I have heard of the xiao long bao at this restaurant many times. I have also heard that the restaurant is always packed with customers and customers have to get queue numbers in order to get a table.

The first time I went was on a weekend, it was so packed that I had to give up. We were back again another day, this time on a weekday and yes, we got in with a reservation.. only after waiting for an hour.

The xiao long bao were really amazing, you get to choose your own soup base, either in 10 pieces of one flavour or it comes with 8 pieces, 8 different flavors.

I must say the xiao long bao was worth waiting and I will definitely go back again.

Mr Bean
Smile 2011-08-31

Mr Bean ( Outram )
Mr Bean which has many outlets in Singapore, they sell a variety of healthy food and beverage products made from soya bean such as soya bean milk, bean curd, soya milk chendol, etc.

I love most is their soya bean ice-cream that really taste good. It is made of natural ingredients such as soya beans. It tastes neither too creamy nor sweet. It comes with a generous portion that is value for money. When eaten fresh it tastes best

I have Milo all the time but I am also very fussy about the taste and I normally have it without sugar, just plain milo. It must be not be too milky or too sweet.

Yesterday, I was having my lunch at this particular stall and I must say I have tasted the best milo.

The milo is neither too dilute nor concentrated. It is really value for money. I will definitely go back for the milo again.

Scoopz

Scoopz ( Upper Thomson )
My mom came home with 2 pints of take away ice-cream from Scoopz. It was a little surprise as my mom had never brought home ice-cream before; she said it was an exception as the ice-cream from Scoopz is remarkable! We had the mango sorbet and durian ice-cream. I’m not the number one fan of durian ice-cream, my mom insisted on me to try and yes... yet for this, I enjoyed it too.

PS Cafe

PS. Cafe ( Orchard )
I had the sticky date pudding cake from PS Cafe at this outlet, Paragon. It was something new that my friend introduced to me. I like the cakes that come with a scoop of ice-cream but most of them do anyway. The sticky date was like caramel base flavored. The cake was moist and the amount of syrup was generous. It's a good thing we shared; I don't think I would be able to finish one on my own.

Beverages - Kopitiam ( Sengkang )
I had my local breakfast here at the Beverages stall at Kopitiam. I had my kaya toast with butter, ice milo and 2 half-boiled eggs. They were good and gave me a nostalgic feeling; remind me of days when I was a kid. The kaya toast were not bad but a little on the dry side, over toasted, kaya spread was minimal too.

Breadtalk

BreadTalk ( Orchard )
BreadTalk was having their anniversary and had a special promotion for their cakes! Buy 2 and get 1 free. Being an avid lover for cakes, of course it got me to purchase an order. I chose a strawberry short cake, a chocolate and a pineapple citrus one. My favorite was the pineapple citrus cake apparently, despite my interest for chocolate, because basically it was the only cake that had soft moisture. The other two weren't very fresh, felt like they were a day old or two.

Dessert Story

Dessertstory ( Serangoon )
I got takeaway steamed milk for my sis and I. Honestly; I'm not quite a fan of that. I feel that it taste basically like bean curd except with egg. I could taste the strong stench of egg white; I call it stench because I don't think it goes with the overall. The cold steamed milk is worse. My sister loves it though.. Guess it is personal preference.

Lao Pan

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd ( Geylang )
I love good bean curd! But only the silky smooth, white, fresh ones that glide down your throat easily. The ones from Lao Pan do. I have always thought of it as breakfast or supper food. It is as nutritious as steamed fish could be, with the amount of protein but at lower cost. I like my beancurd warm, with little or no syrup.

Udders
Smile 2011-08-31

Udders ( Serangoon )
This Udders is tucked away in a corner of the new Serangoon myVillage Mall @ Sr Gardens. It still has its crowd, of course. I had a single scoop of vanilla snickers. The vanilla was creamy, rich and smooth. I wish that there were more pieces of snickers in my scoop though. I enjoy having my ice-cream with a metal spoon than wooden or plastic, metal adds extra coldness, making it better ice-cream.

Espressamente (illy) ( Clarke Quay )
I had a chocolate fudge cake from Espressamente! It's amazing that they are open even at 3am in the morning. I have also tried their chocolate truffle cake, it was good. But I like the fudge cake more. I'm a fan of chocolate, the more intense the level of chocolate goodness, the better it is!

The Soup Spoon

The Soup Spoon ( Telok Blangah )
My mom bought a takeaway packet of soup from Soup Spoon. My all-time favorite was the pumpkin soup, but not after I tried this. It was delicious. I can taste the richness and loaded amount of vitamin C in it! The basil adds a hint of goodness. It’s a really refreshing, healthy yet filling dish.

Kim Choo Kueh Chang

Kim Choo Kueh Chang ( Orchard )
I had a Pulut Inti from Kim Choo at Ion food basement. I recall reading that the blue stained Glutinous Rice came from a flower name. It is then topped with grated coconut cook with gula melaka or palm sugar. The one from this stall is not bad. The glutinous rice is moist and the gula melaka has its natural characteristics of sweetness.

Saybons ( Bishan )
I had the seafood bisque soup for lunch. I was considering to have a crepe as well, a dessert crepe, specifically the banana and nutella one. I skipped it anyway, had my soup with focaccia bread instead.

The soup here is good but somewhat different. It’s flavorful but not chunky. Also, they serve them in a mug instead of a bowl.

Handmade Noodle

Handmade Noodle - Best Bites ( Buona Vista )
I reckon this stall serves the best item for lunch since it always has a queue among the other stalls in Best Bites canteen.

I ordered the standard ban mian with minced pork, $3, I like how the uncle cooks the ban mian just right.

The noodles are springy, not undercooked or overcooked. Minced pork is lean and soup is tasty. There would be an additional charge of $0.50 for a request of extra vegetables. Portion is just right for me.
