Nene at Parkway Parade Cry Sep 05, 2015

Categories : Korean | Fast Food | Halal | Korean Fried Chicken

This is the NENE stall at PP foodcourt.   I ordered the $9.90 set that came with 3 chicken parts, some skinny fries and small dish of radish.  It was quite a big portion for one person, considering the size of the parts.  But, this is smallest availabe for the Swicy flavour.  The chicken was cool and the sweet and not spicy sauce was thick and gooey on the chicken.  Does not taste good.  I reckon it will taste better if the chicken was refried to hot and then the sauce will not be so thick when applied to the hot chickent.  To serve such standard to a customer is not acceptable to me, so I will not return.  The radish serving is miserable.  Plus point, the fries tastes nice, esp with the swicy sauce, maybe because the fries came hot.

Best Creamy Mushroom Soup  Smile Sep 05, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : French | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Roasted Meat

This is a second visit.  The first time I ate at Bugis, I thought the signature mushroom chardonnay chicken was best among my orders, just a little too buttery and milky for my taste.  This time at Kallang, I orderd the same chicken again, which maintained the same standard.  The chicken tasted rather salty on its own and I still have same thought about the sauce.  I ordered the mushroom soup which came at $3.90 with the order.  Wow, I love the soup! Very rich and fragrant, yet it does not taste milky though it was creamy.  I would say this is the best mushroom soup I have come across so far.  My next visit will be to order this with baguette.  I will forget about the chicken.

Yummiest tempura Smile Aug 06, 2015
Categories : Japanese

I went there at 1230pm on a weekday. Queued 20 min and order for the Special Tendon (2 dishes on the menu, the other is the Veg Tendon) was taken then. When ushered into the little restaurant, had to wait another 10 min for the meal, thankfully I was served the chawanmushi and helped myself to the pickles while watching the frying done b4 me at the counter seat. The tempura was fried JIT and served immediately. The tempura was superbly done.  After eating a big bowl of 2 fried shrimps, 1.5 chunk of chicken breast (couldn't finish the other half, the portion was large) , 1 fried runny egg , a few assorted veg......there was no feeling of greasiness after the meal which I so easily feel when I eat fried stuff. And the rice was delicious. Normally, I don't fancy queuing for food. But I will be back! One thing I was not glad was it feels like eating in the kitchen since the frying is done in the same room as the diners. You carry a slight oily smell with u when u leave the place.  But that's not going to deter me. Paid $13.90++.

Disappointing Cry Dec 31, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

I was looking for a good Japanese cheesecake so did a google search and saw some rave reviews about Uncle Tetsu.  Went to buy one. At the counter, the young lady just took out a cake in the box under the counter and packed into a bag for me.  The cake was not warm but room temperature.  Once I reached home, I cut it and took out a slice.  The bottom of the cake felt wet which is weird.  On looking, I was relieved that it didn't look soggy underneath.  On tasting, I immediately dislike the texture. It felt like I was eating foam (not even like mousse).  Then,  I thought it may taste better or firmer if it was refrigerated. So, I left it in the fridge for a few hours before trying again.  Slightly better but still too soft and foam like.   The cake also tasted eggy with a dismissable tint of cheese flavour.  So why call it a cheesecake then? Since it has hardly any cheese flavour and it does not have any cake texture.
