sugar cane OK Jan 28, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre

I ordered the sugar cane from this stall. initially when i first drank the drink, it was very thirst quenching. the sugar cane you can taste that it was very fresh and the juice was freshly squeezed. however when there was one third left in the cup, you start to feel your throat getting itchy. it was clearly due to the fact that they did not filter the juice properly and some of the sugar cane sediments settled to the bottom of the cup. these sediments tends to irritate your throat so in the end i only managed to drink two third of the cup.

Spending per head: Approximately $1(Dinner)

fried mushroom OK Jan 05, 2013

My girlfriend was craving for fried mushroom so we walked over to hot star and ordered from them. Their packet of fried mushroom is pretty huge and it cost $2.80. however I felt their mushroom could taste better. Their mushroom was a little dry, I think they did not soak the mushroom long enough for it to be juicy. if I were to compare with ke kou wei’s fried mushroom, I would prefer their as it was more juicy.

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Tea)

expensive OK Jan 05, 2013

My girlfriend and I found the fruit juice here very expensive. We ordered their red apple juice and the lady charged us $2.50 for a cup. Normally for one fruit, you can get it at a mere $2 but here is much more expensive for a common fruit juice. There were a lot of ice added into the cup too so it was pretty much diluted after a while. The only good thing is that there were no sugar syrup added to the drink and we could taste the natural sweetness of the fruit.

mee hoon kway OK Jul 29, 2012

Categories : Food Court | Chinese Soup

I was feeling a little under the weather so decided to order something hot for lunch. After walking around the stalls I settled for the mee hoon kway. Instead of going with the normal mee hoon kway I got myself the one with dumplings. I find their mee hoon kway a little too thin and it was cut very evenly so I presume it is not handmade. I prefer those handmade ones where the mee hoon kway have more texture and tasted more chewy. nevertheless the soup was very tasty and the dumpling was good.

Categories : Food Court | Chicken Rice

My mother took away the chicken rice from this stall. of all the chicken rice I have eaten, I found this one just okay. The rice was a little dry, but it did have the chicken rice fragrance. I think the roast chicken skin was a little oily so I barely touched the skin. the meat was not too bad, was quite smooth and tender. My mum added an egg for me, I think the egg need to be braised slightly longer.
