sour and spicy Smile Jan 31, 2013

Dinner with the family at din tai fung. I love having dinner with the family because we can order a lot of dishes to share. My particularly favourite dish is the dumpling with chilli oil and vinegar. It was really delicious. The dumpling was very juicy. They used really fresh meat. The skin is very delicate too. I think the one that enhanced the flavours of the dumpling is the chilli oil and vinegar. It gave the dish a dash of spiciness and sourness.

I went to paradise dynasty at lot one with my girlfriend for dinner. We ordered a couple of dishes to share. I dish with I particularly like is the sze chuan fried kung bao chicken. The chicken is cut into cubes. I guess they got marinate the chicken with dried chilli before deep frying cos the chicken is quite spicy. Despite being deep fried, it still taste very juicy. One of my favourite dish!

cheap nasi lemak Smile Jan 31, 2013

This economical bee Hoon stall is very cheap! I ordered four dishes and their nasi lemak rice and I only paid $3.10! Their nasi lemak rice is very fragrant, it was cooked just right, not too hard nor is it too soft. It was not oily as well. On top of the rice, I had their hotdog, fried egg, fish fillet and long bean. The long bean was not too bad, very crunchy and juicy. really affordable!

I was pretty impressed with din tai fung's xiao long dao. I did a little experiment with my girlfriend, we wanted to see how much pressure applies by the chopstick will cause the xiao long bao to burst. As seen in the picture, I exerted quite a lot of pressure on the xiao long bao. However it did not burst. We thought the skin of the xiao long bao should be quite thick for it not to burst. But when we bite into it, the skin was not thick at all. We were really impressed with the skills of the Shi fu.

dumpling noodles Smile Jan 31, 2013

I was feeling slightly under the weather so I decided to order the dumpling noodle soup from paradise dynasty. The dumpling was pretty huge in size but one thing bad about it is that it opens up really easily. The meat they use is very fresh. There was a mixture of chopped vegetables mixed with the meat. The soup itself taste really good, very tasty despite the colour looking really bland. The noodles were pretty good. Very springy and does not stick to the teeth.
