Assam curry fish head Smile Jun 24, 2013

Most people head to Gurney Drive for their main course like fried kway teow, assam laksa but my girlfriend and i are there for their assam curry fish head. we somehow think that the assam curry fish head is one of the best we have tasted. the fish is so fresh, the meat is very sweet. the assam curry gravy is really good, not too spicy. i like the sourness of the gravy, it goes absolutely well with white rice. their gravy is very thick unlike some places where the gravy is so watery. we paid $22 and it came with two white rice , like some kind of set meal.

Braised Pork Ribs Bee Hoon Smile Jun 24, 2013

My sister and I were feeling a little hungry at around 11pm. most of the food places were close and we did not want to eat fast food so we drove to Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe as they opened till really late. She did not want to eat too much so we shared a plate of the Braised Pork Ribs Bee Hoon. It was very fragrant, the bee hoon was very chewy and it had the braised pork rib fragrance inside. the pork rib is really good, the meat was very easy to scrape off from the bone. the portion was really huge, good for two to share.

This time round my girlfriend wanted to try Canton Paradise so I am back there again. As I was feeling a little under the weather probably due to the haze, I only ordered a fried rice as I barely have any appetite. Their fried rice was really good, it did helped me eat a little more. The rice they used is really good, the texture is just right, not too soft, not too hard. They were very generous with their ingredients like char siew. The rice just tasted so fragrant and it was not too oily.

Spending per head: Approximately $13(Dinner)

Iced Teh Smile Jun 24, 2013

Ya Kun Kaya Toast does sell one of the nicer teh in Singapore. On hot and dry weathers, their Iced Teh is the best drink to cool your body down. Firstly the tea they used is really fragrant, it leaves a lingering tea fragrance in your mouth after every sip. they added condensed milk making the drink on the sweet side, however, after some time, the ice melts and the sweetness is just right. i guess the reason why they made it sweeter is to allow the ice to melt so the drink would not taste so bland.

Ramen Smile Jun 24, 2013

This is one of the nicest ramen I haven ever eaten since I got back from Japan. It tasted really authentic. This restaurant does not have a wide variety of ramen for you to choose from. I ordered their normal Ramen ($12). It was charged awfully cheap for such good standard. I added an additional $1 to add an egg. It is a MUST. the egg is really good, the white is a little soft when you break it into half, you can see the creamy egg yolk, the egg yolk is not fully cooked. the creaminess really evoke your appetite. the ramen is so springy, it does not stick to the teeth. there is only one piece of char siew, such a pity cos it really tasted very tender and flavourful. the soup is the ultimate killer, there is a black layer floating on the surface, it is in fact black ma-yu (sesame oil). it gave the soup a very fragrant taste. no words can express how tasty and delicious the soup is but no drop was left behind in my bowl.
