Pork Chop and Sausage Set Smile Jun 23, 2013

Categories : Steaks and Grills

I went to Hot Tomato with my girlfriend. She ordered her favourite steak; I was not in the mood to eat beef so I opted for the Pork Chop and Sausage Set. It came with an Aglio Olio and salad. The aglio olio was sauteed lightly, the main bout of flavours came from the pork chop and sausage. The sausage was not too large, but it was really juicy and tasty. The pork chop was surprisingly tender and it was grilled perfectly. I liked the sauce they provided, it went really well with the pork chop.

BBQ chicken Smile Jun 23, 2013

I introduced my family to Manna Story because my sister is really into Korean Food. She was so glad that the side dishes were free flow. I ordered their BBQ chicken. It came with a bowl of rice. The BBQ chicken was very tasty, the gravy went well with the rice. the chicken was sliced into thin slices so they were easily coated with the bulgogi marinate. The marinate was not too bad, it was mildly spicy and not too salty. i think eating the BBQ chicken alone was just OK, but when you eat with the side dishes, it tasted really good.

My girlfriend and I were walking around causeway point, we decided to head to food republic for dinner. I ordered the thai food from Rama 9. after browsing their selections, I decided on their tom yum soup with omelette and rice. Their tom yum soup is the red kind not the clear kind which means it is not so spicy. The acidity of the soup was just right, it was not too spicy. Somehow it tasted really good that it makes you wanna drink mouth after mouth. The omelette was fried till super thin, kind of puzzled how they managed to get it out of the pan. Nevertheless it was delicious.

I was craving for something hot and spicy so i went to Ajisen with my sister for dinner. I ordered their Tom Yum Pork ramen. their tom yum soup was really good, not too spicy. The acidity level was just right. Their pork was just plainly boiled, not marinated at all but because it was so thinly sliced, it absorbed the tom yum soup pretty quickly. The ramen is very springy and QQ. It was a good meal, totally satisfied my craving.

Lor Bak Smile Jun 23, 2013

My parents wanted to try out Gurney Drive, a restaurant selling authentic Penang Food so we drove to Causeway Point for dinner. I did not see what they ordered so when they served the food i was kind of shocked at the name of this particular dish. the waiter said Lor Bak when he placed it down, my impression of lor bak is those black sauce braised meat with eat and tau pok, but this dish was actually Ngoh Hiang. my mother explained that in Penang they call this lor bak instead of Ngoh Hiang. It tasted pretty good, the meat they wrapped inside was very fresh. it was deep fried till very crispy. there were two dips, one black sauce, one chilli both went well with the dish. I also ordered the iced milk tea to go along with the meal. it was very milky and the tea was very fragrant. I recommend this drink if you were to head there for a meal.
