My parents wanted to try out Gurney Drive, a restaurant selling authentic Penang Food so we drove to Causeway Point for dinner. I did not see what they ordered so when they served the food i was kind of shocked at the name of this particular dish. the waiter said Lor Bak when he placed it down, my impression of lor bak is those black sauce braised meat with eat and tau pok, but this dish was actually Ngoh Hiang. my mother explained that in Penang they call this lor bak instead of Ngoh Hiang. It tasted pretty good, the meat they wrapped inside was very fresh. it was deep fried till very crispy. there were two dips, one black sauce, one chilli both went well with the dish. I also ordered the iced milk tea to go along with the meal. it was very milky and the tea was very fragrant. I recommend this drink if you were to head there for a meal.

Combat the heat Smile Jun 23, 2013

My girlfriend bought me a nice cup of Peach Green Tea to combat the hot weather. It was indeed thirst quenching. Even though the peach was in syrup form but the taste was not too sweet. it did not overpower the fragrance of the green tea. i think the main contributor of the refreshing taste was the green tea, it was very light and fragrant. my girlfriend had Watson's card so there was a 15% discount of our drinks!

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Tea)

must order Smile Jun 23, 2013

If you happened to head to Canton Paradise for dinner, do order their steamed chicken. I am not really a steamed chicken person, mostly preferring roasted chicken to steamed chicken. But when my mother ordered the half a steamed chicken for the family to eat, it was so awesome. i did not eat the skin but the meat is so good, it was very tender. They provided a sauce for the chicken, the sauce brought out the flavour of the chicken. When you eat it with white rice, it taste really good.

My girlfriend wanted to try out Coffee Bean's breakfast so we drove there in the morning to try it. The breakfast I ordered was pretty hearty, there was a portion of scrambled eggs, two sausages, two slices of toast which came with jam and butter and a portion of their salad. the sausage was very juicy and tasty. the salad was light and refreshing with very fresh vegetables. the scrambled eggs were seasoned perfectly. it was very filling. there was a free coffee or tea with the purchase of the breakfast and I opted for the earl grey tea. It was very fragrant and goes well with the breakfast.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Breakfast)

Fried Chicken Thigh Smile Jun 23, 2013

Decided to stop by Lot One Shopping Centre before heading home for a light snack. I bought the Fried Chicken Thigh from Dong Dae Mun. It was pretty cheap, only $3.50 for a pretty huge piece. The chicken was re-deep fried to heat up. Despite being fried twice, the meat inside was still tender and juicy not dry up. I like the batter they used to coat the chicken, very crispy. The auntie offered me some sauces for the chicken which I selected their chilli and mayo. It was a really good combination.
