This was my first time trying claypot rice at this famed outlet. I definitely did not regret the choice! My favourite part of the claypot dish was the burnt rice bits at the bottom. The burnt rice is so crunchy and delicious with a slightly smokey flavour. Although it is unhealthy this is worth the health risk! The chicken claypot rice has chunks of juicy chicken in it too! But the star is the rice in this $15 dish.

Authentic Chendol Smile Jul 01, 2013

The chendol here is really really good for Singapore standards. i would even go to say it is probably one of the best you can get in Singapore. The red beans are all cooked to perfection, so soft and sweet that there is almost no resistance to them. The gula melaka used is premium quality too, thick smooth rich and sweet! The coconut milk is rich and delicious and adds tons of flavour. Worth the $2.80 for sure.

Delicious malaysian specialities Smile Jul 01, 2013

The siew bao here is quite unique. So far this is the only place in singapore that i have found that sells siew bao. After I came back from KL I was craving for a good siew bao. Upon hearing rave reviews about this place i decided to pay a visit. I got both the chicken bao and the siew bao and honestly found them very similar in terms of taste. Some sort of spices are used so the taste is pretty unique to this store. Overall worth a try. Each piece is relatively big and costs $1.50.

Peanut pancake Smile Jul 01, 2013

Jollibean has many different types of peanut pancakes available to snack on. I normally get the classic peanut one though. The peanut pancake is very large compared to many other places and the pancake is very thick and dense. The peanut filling is like a cross between peanut butter and traditional peanut filling and is not too sweet. Good to fill you up but definitely a notch lower than traditional peanut pancakes.

Great late night snack Smile Jul 01, 2013

The chicken wings here are a great late night snack. Since Newton Food Centre opens till the wee hours, it's the perfect place to grab a late night snack when you get hungry. I got a couple last week and really enjoyed the juicy chicken. Each piece was tasty and slightly charred such that it had a smokey flavour. The chicken remained juicy and succulent beneath the blackened skin too!
