Disappointing service Cry May 24, 2013

We have not tried the Manhattan Fish for a long time so we decided to go for dinner here after shopping.

It was around 6pm when we went. There was no queue and there were still a few empty tables around. However, when we wanted to order food, everyone seems to be busy.

Cutlery was not enough for the 3 adults. I have to request for them after the 3rd course is being served. We waited for chilli sauce.

Halfway through our dinner, the queue for the restaurant got longer. As we were sitting beside the queue, we felt bad. As my hubby was eating his dessert, I requested for the bill. The bill came and I gave my credit card. However, the charge slip took a long time to come. And I had to request for a pen to sign the bill.

Do not think I will come back again for the poor service.

As for food,

Fish is too salty. sad

Fish is nice but fries is not hot. The oil from the fish actually made the fries soggy.
Spicy Fish

This is the nicest among the 3 today. Fish is done nicely. Crispy and the sambal is not too spicy.

Crispy Char Siew Pau Smile May 24, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum | Kids-Friendly

We had an event at BioPolis and my colleague suggested Canton Paradise at the Star Vista for lunch before we went for our event.
Dim Sum

Dim Sum

1. Steam Pork Ribs
Actually, I had tried better ones than this. The colouring also did not appeal to me. But my boss like it very much. He liked the pork ribs for its tenderness.
2. Fried taro
The yam is still crispy even I ate the last bit towards the end of the lunch.
3. Chicken Feet
Nice. Worth a try.
4. Custard Buns
The liu sau pau presentation was better than the one that I had recently at another place famous for liu sau pau. my colleague taught us to eat it upside down so that we dont miss out the creamy salted egg liquid. The pau is fluffy and the creamy custard is shiok.
5. Fried Beancurd Roll
its very very crispy. And its not the salty type when you bit into it.
6. Carrot Cake
This is very soft and nice. they may look a bit burnt but it does not taste burnt at all. Its soft and fragrant.
7. Siew Mai
There are mini shrimps bits in the siew mai. But I think we can try something else next round.
8. Xiao Long Bao
The soup in the xiao long bao is just nice.
9. Crispy Char Siew Pau

Crispy Char Siew Pau

this is my favourite among all the dishes. The char siew is not too sweet and its to my liking.

Quite crowded during lunch time.

sad thing was when I enquired about their membership card, the service staff was not very pro-active in promoting. I did not buy any in the end.

Curry Vegetables and Popiah Smile May 24, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre | Vegetarian

I have been eating this vegetarian bee hoon for the past few years. Hubby and I like their vegetarian curry vegetables very much. Sometimes, I will just buy a box of curry vegetables from them then buy some long beans and tau pok to add in to cook for our lunch. It tastes great even though we never add in additional curry paste and etc.

I paid $3 per box. Its quite cheap for the amount of ingredients and amount of bee hoon.

We also like their vegetarian goose. Its very crispy when you bite into them. For the popiah, vegetarian goose and seaweed roll, I paid $4 for these.

Please be prepared to wait on 1st day and 15th day of the Lunar Month.

Thumbs up for Custard Egg Buns  Smile May 13, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

We wanted to go to another Dim Sum restaurant around the area but it was not opened yesterday. I remembered TV featuring a Dim Sum restaurant at Sunshine Plaza. We were early and realised that Victor's Kitchen was not opened yet. We went for coffee somewhere else and decided to come back at 10.30. When we were back at 10.20, there was a long queue waiting for it to open.

Custard Buns

This is a must try item. I like the buns so much that I ate 2. My dad is a thrifty person and will always nag at us for wasting $ to eat outside. When we were footing the bill, he even requested to tabao 1 packet of the buns. We also tabao 3 packets of the Custard Buns for each family to bring back. Their buns are even nicer than a famous dim sum restaurant that we went recently. The custard are really flowing out and piping out.

Siew Mai and Prawn Dumplings
The boss added generous of fresh pawn meat in the Siew Mai and Har Gow. The ingredients are also fresh.

Fried Dumplings and Fried Beancurd Rolls
I like these 2 items. Fried dumplings skin is not too thick. Beancurd Rolls also have prawn and meat. Not those with a lot of flour.

Steamed Carrot Cake
They gave the xo sauce after we ate almost half of it. sad I dont really like the steamed carrot cake as I find it too soft.

Fish and century egg porridge
I ordered the fish porridge for my 19 months old boy. The porridge is very smooth.

Steam pork ribs
The pork are too tough. Probably, they have not steamed it enough.

Note:

Do not expect a wide variety of Dim Sum.
Prepare to wait.
If you want to tabao home, you can request for cold buns so that you do not have to queue and wait to for hot food.
