Spent a Friday night at this restaurant in icon village. The service staff were honest and friendly. We wanted to order a vegetable side dish after our mains were served and the waitress asked us if we were okay with waiting for 20 minutes for it. Such honest service is difficult to come by in this industry as I've often ordered something without knowing about the long wait that awaits me. As customers, we didnt mind waiting. But more importantly, we feel a need to be told if we have to wait. So thumbs up to Salta's awesome service.

For starters, we were given a free loaf of bread to be shared and this came with a bowl of pate. The pate was nicely done, without being too mushy or wet.

For mains, we order two plates of beef rib eye ($37.45 after gst) and a plate of beef tenderloin ($40.66 after gst). There is no service charge so hooray to that. Each slab of meat is sold at minimum of 300g. For ladies, be prepared to share if you cant finish 300g worth of meat. I shared with my mum! My entire family enjoyed our steak as it was succulent yet not too tough or dry.

As our steak only came with half a tomato and a few potatoes, we had the grilled vegetables as sides. The vegetables were grilled to perfection and they were crunchy. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked.

I feel this is one of the more affordable QUALITY steaks in Singapore. I've tried other restaurants which are too heavily price (Eg. $100 ) and the quality not as great. If you're looking for a birthday celebration or a date night with a budget of about $50 per pax (without wine and desserts), this would be an ideal place.

Dined at the UE square outlet on a Thursday night. The place was about 3/4 filled during the 7pm hour. Service was excellent as the staff volunteered to cook our food for us although we kindly declined. They also checked-in on us once in awhile to see if we were happy with the food. A+ for their service standards!

We ordered for 2 to share (1 guy + 1 girl) :

1) Ito-wagyu beef, 300g, $128
2) Wagyu Nakaochi, small plate, $20.90
3) Wagyu Karubi, small plate, $25.90
4) Bacon and sausage appetizer
5) Freshly brewed Asahi beer

All prices are before taxes

Fern and Kiwi family celebration Smile May 21, 2013

For full review with photos: http://travelshootandshare.blogspot.sg/2013/04/fern-and-kiwi_26.html

Headed down for a family celebration to Fern and Kiwi on a Friday night. We did not reserve a table but managed to get a seat straight away. Coming from a family that flies to New Zealand frequently, we do crave for NZ food once in awhile.

We had:

1) Manuka smoked snapper salad:Snapper tasted as if it had been kept frozen but it did go well with the veggies

2) Classic pork spare ribs, appetizer: I would recommend the appetizer portion for Singaporean girls as the 4 slabs of spare ribs will keep you full. The honey glaze sauce was nice but I've tasted better texture of spare ribs in NZ.

3) Aucklander pizza: similar to most pizzas found around the country (Eg: california pizza kitchen type of pizza)

4) 12hour braised lamb shank: dish was tender and not overcooked

5) Minature Pavlovas: great that they did it minature style as a full size cake which they normally serve in NZ would have been too much for a family of 4. Texture was light and fluffy.

The menu is filled with vocabulary synonymous to New Zealand. If you're looking for food commonly eaten in NZ, this is a place to consider for its menu.

Sunday brunch at Kith Cafe Smile May 21, 2013

For full review and pictures: http://travelshootandshare.blogspot.sg/2013/04/easter-indulgence-at-kith-cafe.html

Had a girly brunch out with a good pal of mine. In essence, the food was good but the atmosphere was HOTHOTHOT!

The food I had:

1) Linguine pasta with crayfish, garlic, olive oil, asparagus, cherry tomato - $22.

The pasta blended very well with the sauce. It was just right. Not to creamy nor too diluted. I also liked how the crayfish was cut into small bits instead of being served as one big chunk.

Downsides:

1) The sweltering weather was a killer for me as I sat outdoors. This coupled with the fumes from the car exhausts. Not exactly a nice place to chill out during the afternoon.

2) The waitresses were extremely busy. It was hard to get their attention sad
