Dissapointing. Not worth it! Cry May 21, 2011

Was catching a movie at Plaza Sing with a friend. After we bought the tickets, we went to have our dinner. As we didnt really know what to have for our dinner, we just simply walked into this Japanese restaurant after seeing their menu. I was actually attracted by their menu, thought this Japanese restaurant seems to serve quite authetic Japanese food.

I have ordered a terriyaki chicken set while my friend had ordered their signature chanpon set which come with 3 crabs sushi too.

My terriyaki chicken set came first, so i actually start my dinner first as i was feeling hungry. The chicken was so-so only, infact it was overcooked which made the chicken meat quite dry. The cabbage was dry too, which i think it must be left in the open space after sliced for too long. The cabbage has lost the most of its moisture. The cold tofu was average too.

The portion as you can see was really quite small. I actually finished my set before my friend's chanpon came. They actually missed out his order which took them quite awhile to prepare. Anyway, i tried my friend's chanpon when it arrived. Its was quite dissapointing too. It was actually more like a bowl of mixed vegetables with lots of raw cabbages. The vegetables was too overwhelming, so much more than the noodles. Anyway, nothing special about the noodles, it tasted very much like our chinese yellow noodles, just that chanpo noodles was much thicker.

The crab sushi was also very disspointing. The crab meat and the rice were not fresh, The sushi actually 'stick' on the plate. I was having a difficult time of picking the sushi up. The rice was a bit sour and sticky too, and thats why the sushi just stick on the plate. sad

Dissapointing ban mian! Cry Mar 30, 2011

I bought ban mian from this new 'Fish Soup & Ban Mian' stall for lunch today.

It was a very dissapointing ban mian to me. Can you imagine your mee hoon kuen or ban mian has a wierd fishy taste? I know its must be some mixed up with the fish soup that they are selling too. Must be they using the same pot cooking the fish soup and they didnt clean properly.

But the taste is totally unacceptable for me. A ban mian with fishy taste really 'turned me off'.

They should pay more attention on the cleaniess of the utensils.

Quite dissapointing.. Cry Mar 10, 2011

Was meeting with one of my colleague near my house for some work discussion. So we decided to have an early dinner together and have our discussion at the same time. My colleague suggested to have porridge for our dinner, so we decided to have mixed vegetables with porridge. Well, the dinner turned out to be a disspointment, none of the dishes is nice. The minced meat is very fatty and taste very fatty! The fish is overcooked, the meat is tough. The braised tau kee is still considered not too bad among the rest of the dishes, but the taste is too bland and the vegetables is so-so only.

Its not authentic Japanese food Cry Mar 07, 2011

Personally, I dont quite understand why Sakae sushi is quite popular in Singapore. I feel that the quality of their food is below average and is not authentic enough as compare to many other Japanese restaurants. And most importanly, their price is not cheap at all for that kind of food and portion (very small) that they are serving.

The quality of the japanese rice which is used in the sushi and bento set is very important to me, it will really affect the taste of the bento and sushi. Generally, i felt that the rice Sakae is using is much inferior or lower grade than what the other Japanese restaurant is using. Their rice is much drier and less frangance. And I ever had a chawamushi that has turned bad at habourfront branch. sad Ever since, i told myself not to visit Sakae (any Sakae) again! Its not worth at all!

Xmas Eve Celebration Cry Dec 30, 2010
Categories : Fusion | Café | Steaks and Grills

We wanted a Xmas eve celebration dinner that is not too exp this year and not too crowded like Orchard area. So one of my friend has sourced around Tanjong Pagar and found this restaurant, which the environment is quite cool. Anyway, we didnt know its a buffet dinner until when we were there, as we thought its a xmas dinner set when we made the reservation. Well, usually i have quite high expecation for buffet food, cos i really dislike food that is not freshly prepared or cold. The buffet there is not very nice, except for the chicken wings and ham. And the coffee there is quite good. But overall, the ambience over there is still not that bad.
