Good ol yummy KFC
Smile 2011-03-22

KFC ( Upper Thomson )
This branch is near to my training and work place.

There was this period of time I craved for the KFC breakfast meals. My favorite was the burritos. It was filled with warm egg with melted cheese and chicken bits which was so yummy and satisfying, it could power me up for the 3 hr long seminars during trainings.

After work when I'm hungry, I will order either my favorite mashed potatoes or quesedillas that contains cheese, chicken bits and nachos.

Of course the perennial fav is the secret recipe herbed fried chicken, which I prefer original flavored and the cheesy fries! But must eat when hot, when cold, the fries harden..

I also love it when the hot drumlets are in season.

Finger licking good indeed!

Recommended Dish(es):
Breakfast burritos, quesedillas, chicken, cheesy fries

Ms Clarity Cafe
Just OK 2011-03-22

Miss Clarity Café ( Upper Thomson )
Had birthday tea there. Besides having western fare, they also have nice cakes and desserts.

We ordered a yummy lychee frizz that was cool and refreshing, Slurp tongue and had cheesy fries with sausages called Mambo Jumbo. It was ok.

For desserts, we had tiramisu and the bread pudding with ice cream. The latter was yummy...love the warm bread pudding mixed with the cold sensation of the vanilla ice cream.

It's a place for bites, drinks and desserts with close friends/ family. Seating capacity is limited although they have a few seats outdoor.

Recommended Dish(es):
Cakes, bread pudding, lychee frizz

Wendy's, an alternative to the normal fast foods
Smile 2011-03-04

Wendy's ( Tampines )
Go to Wendy's at Century Square after work sometimes.

Because they offer something no other fast food joints have. Baked potatoes with different toppings like sour cream, chilli beef (non spicy), double cheese etc...My fav is the last 2.

They have beef, shrimp, chicken and fish burgers. Surprisingly the beef burgers are so so, as compared to the others. The shrimp burger: shrimp is quite fleshy.

Chickens and nuggets are not bad too.

Drinks: They have different stuff like ice-cream float, milk shakes other than the usual.

In all, Wendy's is a good alternative to all the other fast food joints.

Recommended Dish(es):
baked potato, ice-cream float, shrimp burger, chicken

Shui Jian Bao (Pan fried steamed buns)
Smile 2011-03-04

Luo Chun Ge ( Tampines )
This little stall sells shui jian bao which you would salivate for...and comparing standards with full fledged restaurants with many outlets (shan't mention names), it comes out as champs!!!

Cheaper and better!!! Why better? Coz its crispy on the outside, and when you bite it, the juice spurts out, or it's filled with the soup stock of the pork. So yummy!!! Doesn't lose to xiao long bao either since it is crispy on othe outside due to being pan-fried, more xiang (fragrant) in the sense.

And of course it's no wonder that during peak periods, you may spot long queues. And you got to wait at times because they cook in batches...

Talking about it, makes me feel like satisfying my craving to buy after work next Mon tongue

They also have 'sets' which sell cheaper if you buy more packets, and the set includes additional desserts like mango pudding, drinks etc. The mango pudding is not bad.

Recommended Dish(es):
pan fried buns, shui jian bao

Bakerzin
Smile 2011-03-04

BAKERZIN ( Thomson )
Brought my daughter to eat at this branch. Ordered a mushroom soup for her which she and i loved.

We tried the 'newer' additions to the menu like the pork chop pasta and baked seafood pasta.

Personally i find the tomato sauce of the pork chop pasta too sweet. But the meat was fine.

I prefered the baked seafood pasta due to cheese on it, and its more savoury notes as compared to the former.

Free bread and butter whenever you dine in.

Bakerzin is my safe place to go for foods and desserts.

Koi Bubble Tea
Smile 2011-03-04

KOI Café ( Ang Mo Kio )
Koi always usually have very long queues. And this branch is no exception.

Koi's pearls are QQ and freshly made. Sugar levels can be chosen (quite common now)

Going with the original milk tea is a good choice, it just tastes different and better somehow to most...

For the adventurous, you can try the Oolong milk tea.

For coffee lovers, they have coffee alternatives to choose from.

WAGYU!!!
Smile 2011-03-04

Aburiya ( Mohammed Sultan )
The first time we went, was the branch at Holland V. This was the 2nd time we tried and at this different outlet.

Need to make reservations especially on weekends as business is good.

We again ordered the wagyu platter which consists of different variety of choiced meats. And you have to DIY grill the wagyu, which can be very hot.

They have different kinds of sauces to enhance the flavour of the wagyu. Besides wagyu beef, we also ordered the foie gras

Also ordered rice ball (Onigiri) to grill for carbo. But it's quite small, hence my hubby likes to order garlic fried rice to complete the meal.

Basically outside Japan in little Singapore, this is one of the better wagyu BBQ place to try.

They have other meats and seafood besides wagyu beef. But i'm there for the Wagyu!

Nice Tea/desserts place
Smile 2011-03-04

BAKERZIN ( Orchard )
This branch at Paragon is the perfect and popular place for people to enjoy teatime there.

Last visit i had the strawberry coupe cheesecake ice-cream and it includes a macaron.
Sweet afternoon delight...

Oh, i love Bakerzin for its food & desserts. Recently got entered into a lucky draw because i spent above a certain amount, and even bought a tiramisu cake (YUMMY!) to hit that amount. And the prize was i became a member.

And you see the picture of the dessert? It's free due to vouchers given to members smile

Sweet deal~!

Good & value for money western fare
Smile 2011-03-04

Hot Tomato Express ( Dhoby Ghaut )
This is a really value for money with good western food restaurant.

For the beef and giant prawn, it was under SGD20.

They have set lunches and the tomato soup is creamy & zesty good.

Tiramisu dessert was good too!

Really worth it

The only gripe is they should have a bigger seating space...

Osteria Mozza
Cries 2011-03-04

Osteria Mozza ( Marina Bay )
We celebrated Valentine's Day on the eve on a Sunday, decided to try out this raved about Italian restaurant which is separated into 2 sections, the Osteria and the Pizzeria. Former selling only pastas and its famous mozerella, the latter its pizzas.

And the rigid and funny thing is, they are separated hence you can't order from the other section. So it's basically 2 restaurants next to each other. I think it's a stupid concept.

They gave us free appetizers which were bread with some mozeralla i guess. And i didnt know that until after i already ordered the Burata Mozarella which was raved about. It was fresh white mozarella on caramelized onion with crispy bread. Guess it was the better thing we tried there.

My husband ordered Vongole linguini, and i ordered some beef pasta. His was Very SALTY, mine was ok...

And the still water cost SGD10 (Before taxes) ok!!! Gosh....i rather drink from my own bottle of water which is free...

What pissed me off was i asked for a chair or Anything to put my bag, and they didnt come back to me. After i asked a 2nd time, they said they dun have anything for me, and didnt offer anything at all! What kind of lousy service attitude is that? LAZINESS! Not even a normal chair...

And we had a hard time trying to get their attention for ANYTHING!

Not going back there again! Expensive and lousy service and non fantastic pastas...

Recommended Dish(es):
none, unless the raved about mozarella burata is supposed to be good

Skinny pizza
Smile 2011-03-03

Skinny Pizza ( City Hall )
Was hearing about this Skinny Pizza among my online friends and 8 days magazine.

Decided to try out to see what's the hoohah about on my Weds lunch adventures with my baby boy.

Tried the Wild truffled Mushroom skinny pizza. According to 8 days, since its skinny, supposedly not filling. But maybe i'm one person, after eating half of it i was FULL.

The crust is crispy thin, but the fillings were really FILLING. Mushroom had strong taste of truffled oil. After a while, got a bit jelak. But it was good la. Truffles wat...expensive stuff

Ramen adventure
Smile 2011-03-03

Hachifukumaru ( City Hall )
Im currently trying out the cream of the crop of good ramens in Singapore.

This is one of the top few which sells authentic japanese ramen. Apparently, it's said that Singapore is the only outlet outside Japan. So we are lucky foodies Singaporean smile

We tried the black garlic ramen. I liked the garlic aroma in the ramen and the egg was of good standard as expected of a good japanese ramen's egg. Soft, egg yolk was of the right soft consistency, and it was flavoured.

So if you are at Parco Millenia Walk, do give it a try.

Was checking out the new extension of the Millenia Walk when i passed by Coffee Club. Decided to sit in for dessert.

Tried the 'newer' dessert and tea additions to the menu instead of the usual Muddy Mudpie hot seller.

Had the Monkey chocolate cake with banana. It was Very Good!

Also tried the melon tea, which was infused with the sweet fragrance of the melon as i smelt the aroma, even before i added sugar. Oh wait, it was so good, that i didnt add sugar!

Everything With Fries (EWF) @ Joo Chiat
Smile 2011-03-03

Everything With Fries ( Joo Chiat )
Every Weds will bring my baby boy back to parents' to teach piano. So every Wed lunchtime will think of where to go.

Yesterday tried EWF @ Joo Chiat. And to my pleasant surprise, my friend was working there and so i had a 20% discount smile

Tried the cheese burger with sour cream fries straight cut. It was ok. Fries had the sour cream taste. Probably may try the curry fries next time.

Also ordered the egg soup which was very unique as its like those you find in some chinese soups kind of totally golden fried egg, on top of a chicken broth. It tasted pretty good. I was feeding this to my baby boy...

Then took away one of their desserts. My friend recommended the vanilla crepe which was interesting as it had many layers till its thickness was that of a cake. I was peeling layer by layer of crepe and cream for dessert after dinner. Nice.
