Fried wanton Smile Mar 09, 2011
Categories : Malaysian | Hawker Centre | Noodles

The wanton noodle is definitely one of the better ones. This brand is found in most of the heartland malls, and you cannot go wrong with it.

I like the fried wanton best. It is very crispy but not oily. A nice contrast with the softer noodles. The wanton does not lose its crispiness even after finishing the noodles, since I have a habit of leaving one or two wanton to the last.

The char siew is sweet and tender, not too much fats in it.

The black sauce for the noodle is sweet and salty, but not too salty. I prefer my noodles slighty moist, and so I tend to add some soup to it. It tastes just as good, without diluting the sauce too much.

The default order has a mixture of fried and boiled wanton. The serving is quite small, leaving you with enough space for desserts.

Pork belly bun!  Smile Mar 09, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Café

I absolutely love the pork belly bun here.

The meat is very very tender, and is well infused with the sauce. The layers of fats are not too much and is not too oily. The meat and the bun is put together on the spot, and you can see the sauce drizzle out. The bun is fluffy and soft, and it soaked up the sauce of the meat (yummy!). It is served warm, and best eaten on the spot!

The price of the bun is more expensive than other places, but it is definitely compensated for its taste and quality.

There is usually little or even no queue for this stall, despite the good food. No reason to deny this stall a visit!

Mixed vegetable rice Smile Mar 07, 2011

Categories : Hawker Centre

This rice stall is just like a typical mixed vegetable rice stall in the foodcourt, but way cheaper. Rice with 1 vegetable and 2 meat cost only $2.60! The amount of rice is just nice.

There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from during the lunch hours, but expect less after that. Some of the dishes are found almost everyday, such as the steamed egg with meat, and curry chicken, and steamed tofu with preserved egg. The amount of the dishes and rice given is just nice, filling enough, but some people do ask for extra rice when they are really hungry.

The queue during lunch hours is really long, especially at 12pm. The good thing is that they serve quite quickly. Many people are considerate too, and prepare their money beforehand, and so the queue moves quite fast.

Great food  Smile Mar 07, 2011

Categories : Italian | Pasta | Burgers and Sandwiches | Salads/ Acai Bowl

After my visit to the gastronomia at The Sail, i had the urge to go again and try other of their food items. So, one day when i was staring at the directory in Paragon and saw Da Paolo on the list, i knew that would be the place to go and grab some lunch.

Unlike the outlet at The Sail, the paragon outlet does not offer any seating alternative.

One particular item caught my attention, and that would be the disney pasta. Apparently, these pasta comes in the shape of disney character and would sure get the attention and liking of all those young kids out there. I had considered buying it home and cook for my niece, but truth to be spoken, even though it is unique, it is still considered pricy for a small pack of pasta.

Instead, i went over to the counter for the "main course". I bought grilled chicken breast, caprese, and stuffed eggplant. The irony is, i love the sweet pepper that comes together with the chicken more than the meat itself. The capsicum is really soft, to the extent that i doubt any teeth is needed to eat it. Caprese, is just the standard, with alternate slices of mozzarella and tomato. It is a great salad for those people out there who hates the greens.

When i was making payment for these food items, i cant help but to notice the scones that are calling out to me. I heard that the white chocolate cornflakes and chocolate chips are the best selling, thus i bought one of each. The scones are slightly pricy, going at $3.50 each, but at least they are consider huge and just one of it would suffice for my breakfast next day. They are generous with their chocolate chips and chunks of milk chocolate can be seen all over the scone. I put the white chocolate chip scone into the oven and toasted before eating. And yes, i would advice the rest out there to do it too, cause it makes the cornflakes crispy and it provide a hugh contrast to the softness of the scone texture. The scone, over all, actually tasted more like a muffin. But i'm not complaining, so long as it taste nice.

Homemade noodles!  Smile Mar 04, 2011
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Coffeeshop | Noodles

This is the best handmade noodles i have had before.

The auntie is super friendly when she is not busy and will chat with you while preparing the noodles. And unlike those from the factory that are already in the shape of noodles, she only take out a small dough and have to flatten and cut it with the cutter. It's quite fun to watch while she prepares.

It taste different from the rest of those that i found in other hawker centers. I always have ban-mian, and the noodles are more chewy, and will not have the soggy halfway through the meal. The side ingredients, like the pork and vegetables are not a lot, and standard with a egg, but the soup made up for everything lacking, and not to mention the large serving of noodles.
