Kosong Not Available Cry Oct 29, 2012
Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Curries | Halal

went there for late supper after a good cycling outing with friends. We were shocked to be told by the staff that kosong and plasta prata is not available at this crowded hour, only the "premium" prata like egg and specials are available. The egg prata cost $1.80 each. On the other hand, i did see many ppl eating their fish head curry and using kosong prata to dip in the suace. our conclusion, at peak hours, kosong prata is only available to those does minimum spending. Thumbs down to this policy tongue. The mee hong kong i ordered did have big sized sotong offered but taste wise it loses out to the muslim stalls standard.

Replacing the Old Indian Times Smile Oct 29, 2012

Categories : Fusion | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot

Was recommended this place by a friend that its supposed to be a more "atas" steamboat place. A friend was in town so brought him to try it out, since its a pretty good location at east coast park and with a chill out place just nearby. we were the 1st customer there, but at 6pm you wouldn't be surprised smile. First impression is the place looks pretty posh, though they did retain pretty much the old layout of Indian Times. Table setting was more for fine dining and nice silverware, the steamboat grill heater was brand new as well, that was a good start. Initially they were playing Cantonese songs but was changed to more classy music after we sat down, didn't really fine the music matching to the environment though.

Moving on to the food, we ordered the combo platter of seafood and meat and additional beef ball. It did not came with crab though. I must say when the dishes were served, they were nicely presented, even the vege came in nice glass holder.

We tried both the herbal chicken and mushroom soup base. Herbal soup wins hands down with the mushroom one tasting a little bland. They also offer 2 special sauces to go along, i prefer the house special sauce but have no idea whats its made of (think its sesame sauce plus some bean paste).

Food wise i thought its average but made up with the nice table settings and posh environment. the beef meat balls were not really to my killing though.

Still with its ambiance, its a nice place for a quick catch up over dinner for 2-3pax i guess. If i have to complain about anything, it will be the aircon, i was sweating half way thru but was much better after the staff turn it up.
