Agree that the buffet lunch is value for money, at around $30+/pax. There are a wide range of food, and most of them are quite delicious. I like the fish hor fun. There is generous helping of fish. The fish meat is tender and not overcooked. It is not salty too.The gravy is not heavy handed on seasonings but some may find that this plate leans on the milder side compared to those in HDB zi char.Would like the recommend the pork ribs too...The meat is not too tough or gluey soft like some shops. The rich honey/sweet taste makes you crave for more.Staff service could be better...perhaps there are too many people and clearing of plates is a bit slow. Also I have to repeat one of my orders 3x before it was delivered.Read More

We tried the ala cart buffet lunch. $26.80/pax for weekday, and children below 6 yrs old are FOC. Quite a lot of variety - includes dim sum, meat, fish, beancurd, vege, noodles, dessrts. Value-for-money atthe price. One of my favourite dish is the curry prawns. The taste is very good, and go very well with the fried mantou. For desserts,  I recommend Crispy Pancake with Lotus Paste Filling and Ice-cream Puff. The fillingin the pancake is generous, not too sweet and nice. Must be eaten fast when it is crispy. The icecream puff is vanilla flavour and is a hit with children. The beancurd is also good as it is very smooth and silky, and best of all not too sweet.I've also tried their yam paste in coconut in another occasion, and it taste very good. The portion is very small though.Staff service is prompt, change plates for every dish, and is a good place for family and friends gathering. Will comeback again.Read More

The first time I had the buffet at Tung Lok I remember the food to be pretty good. I also liked how there were many many choices for us to choose from the menu. Hence, I decided to bring my parents there to try it out. The sambal clams while yummy, did not seem to be very fresh. Most of the clams in the plate had their shells closed, which only means that they had gone bad. The worse thing is that they still served it to us.The pig trotters vinegar wasn't in the buffet menu, but somehow the staff shared with us that we could order it at no extra cost. It was my first time having this dish and I quite liked the vinegar taste. The thought of it is making me salivate now The only downside was that it's really really oily. The deep-fried salmon skin was nice and crispy and was great as a snack. It was so easy to lose count of how much you've had because you'll just keep reaching for one after another munching on them The portion was really generous too.The assam gravy was slightly thick, and the colour was a bright orange. The portion of the fish was just right, not too big so that we could still have enough room in our stomach for the other dishes. The vegetables in this dish was also well-cooked, soft but not too much so.  The salmon sashimi slices were big and thick, and they were fresh too. This is another dish that you can just keep ordering to satisfy your craving for salmon sashimi! There were also plenty of other yummy dishes so if you're looking for affordable quality Chinese food with a wide variety of dishes, this is the place to go!Read More

Last year I received a pack of bak kwa, which I felt tastes great. This year I happens to know that DBS is having a 1-for-1 promotion for its bak kwa and decide to get a pack from the Orchard Central outlet. For a 500g pack, it costs $32++ and is available in 2 flavours : honey and spicy. The bak kwa is prepacked in pink boxes and displayed at the cashier for sale. The bbq meat looks well bbq but does not looks as well as grazed as the version which I have last year. Maybe it is good business now and standard has dropped. The honey flavoured bak kwa tastes quite juicy and tender.Read More

I've always love the furnishing of Tung Lok group of restaurants. Very creative and impressive. Tung Lok Seafood @ Orchard Central is quite special in the sense it has a outdoor "corridor" for customers to admire the beautiful scenery from a height of 12 stories. Some of the dishes I had for their ala carte buffet @ S$38.80/pax.Crispy Prawns coated with Crushed BiscuitsThis is quite a unique dish when I first saw it in the menu. I wonder how biscuits can be associated with fried prawns. However, it's not very nice when served. The prawns are not crispy, and the so-called biscuits were quite hard to chew on. Tung Lok Chilli CrabThe crab meat was not too bad. The amount of chili is just right. Neither too spicy nor too chili-less.Deep-fried Dumpling with sweet and sour sauceSoft texture wrapped with tasty 韭菜 (leek). I liked the sweet-sour taste of the vinegar in it.Poached Prawns with wineThis dish is quite soft and bland on the stomach. The taste and fragrance of the wine is not that strong though.Braised Beancurd and Minced Meat with Pickled Vegetables in Black SauceThe black sauce is quite unique but would taste better without the pickled vegetable.Fried RiceThe fried rice was extremely fragrant.I think ala carte buffet at $38.80 is considered cheap along the streets of Orchard Road. It has total of 43 delicacies to choose from, including desserts.Read More

The Place - Tung Lok Seafood on Level 11 of Orchard Central Mall next to Somerset MRT is fast becoming one of my favourite Chinese restaurants. Besides its convenient location, I like its unpretentious interior unlike Chinois or the Humble House which call for a definite dress code and busy menus that take time to decipher. The Service - The staff here are experienced so you won't get orders mixed up and unlike the seafood restaurants at East Coast Park, there are no pushy waitresses promoting off-menu 'catch of the day' items at non-transparent prices. Here you get class without the crass service. The staff are pleasant, polite, proactive and service-oriented. Having reunion meal on weeknight ahead of the CNY Eve means we are not restricted to the set menus and having our meals within 2 hour time bands to fit in 3 dinner seatings per night. The Prices - Usual menu price applies for a la carte orders, with most dishes priced between $18 to $28 per portion. Early birds also have a choice of both regular set menus and special CNY set menus. If you are planning to order mainly live seafood cooked to order, then the set menus offer better value. If you have shallower budgets like us, then pick several a la carte items for a no less satisfying meal. The Food - Tung Lok's kitchens deliver consistently high standards and this restaurant is no exception. All the seafood dishes we had that night were fresh and delicious. The yusheng here thankfully did not have too much of the glaringly coloured pickled ginger & the salmon sashimi for the yusheng are sliced more generously than other Chinese restaurants like Lei Garden and Crystal Jade. Here are my top picks from the a la carte menu:* Live prawns steamed with garlic. The prawns were very plump and fresh, deveined and halved for easy eating, and cooked just right. Minced garlic and a drizzle of superior soya sauce enhanced the flavour..* Garoupa fillet with wine which was a wholesome dish, fish was very fresh, with honshimeji mushrooms and black fungus providing textural contrast. The wine based broth was flavorsome and we finished every drop..* Sauteed scallops and broccoli with XO sauce. The scallops were plump and juicy; the premium XO sauce lent a mildly spicy kick to the dish without overwhelming the fresh flavor of the scallops. Broccoli was cooked just right - slightly crunchy* Yam ring - attractively plated and tasted as good as it looked. The yam was crispy on the surface and creamily melt-in-the-mouth smooth beneath, enveloping a mound of sauteed celery, carrot, baby corn, sugar snap peas, straw mushrooms, lean chicken chunks, shelled shrimps and cashew nuts. Yummy..We had seafood noodles to round off our meal, this was delicious without being too greasy. A nice gesture was the offer of complimentary dessert - honeydew sago.Read More

Tung Lok group owns quite a number of restaurant, and the one that we went this time is specialized in Seafood! We started of having the Oyster ($3.80/piece) as starter. We choose to have it crisp-fried with salted pepper. Delicious! You get this crispy layer on the outside, but once you bite in, the inner bit is the fat and fresh oyster that is so juicy. One can also have their oysters raw, or steamed with garlic, or even oven-baked with cheese. Your choice! Steamed Razon clam ($10/pcs) is another must-have I reckon. We had it steamed with spicy XO sauce and vermicelli. The clam is fresh and huge, good chewy texture. The sauce is fantastic and fully abosorbed by the vermicelli, which made it very flavourful. Thumbs up. You can also choose to steam the clam with garlic only if you can't take spicy food. Fish maw bisque ($8) is so rich in flavour, and the broth has this collegen kind of stickiness. The generous amount of fish maw in the soup gives a good bite texture. Love the sweetness of it. We then have the Deep-fried prawns with wasabi-mayo sauce! The big peeled prawns are so crunchy and springy. They are slightly deep-fried before coated with the tangy wasabi-mayo sauce. Very delicious and of good balanced flavour, neither too 'spicy' nor salty. This signature dish goes well with rice or simply delicious to be consumed as snacks. Mee goreng ($18) is slightly greasy for me, the portion is huge and it's kind of spicy. Nothing too special in terms of taste though. Dessert wise, we had the Yam paste with gingko nuts served in young coconut. Well, the restaurant ran out of coconut that day, and hence our yam paste is just served in the bowl. For that reason, we are charged $5 only instead of the usual $8. Love the smooth texture of the yam paste, it also has strong yam fragrant, pleasantly good! Read More

Visited Tung Lok for their ala carte lunch buffet with a few colleagues. For the price of $24.80++ (excluding tea & pickles), I found the variety and quality of dishes to be fairly reasonable. The menu is divided into 6 categories - Cold Cuts and Appetisers, Delicacies, Soup, Dim Sum, Rice and Noodles, and lastly, Desserts. HitsSliced Beef with Ginger and ScallionsThe beef was tender, chewy and flavourful, easily one of my favourite dishes in the menu! Steamed Royal Shrimp DumplingsThe prawns were fresh and juicy and the skin was not too thick. Goes well with their special chilli saucePan-fried Carrot Cake in Spicy X.O. SauceOne of the more interesting dishes in the menu. The carrot cake was fried with egg and beansprouts, not what I had imaged it to be. The X.O. sauce tasted great and greatly enhanced the fragrance and flavour of this dish! MissesSeafood Salad with Fresh FruitsThis dish was practically rock melon with thousand island sauce. The only seafood in it was 3 really thin slices of prawns on top of the melons. Save your tummy for more high value items.Steamed Pork and Shrimp DumplingsThere was this really strong "porky" taste which I suspect is due to the "not-so-fresh" pork being used. Not recommended. The service level was so-so and the waitresses took really long to serve our dishes. Overall, I found this dining experience to be fairly average. Nothing fanciful but food-wise still within acceptable range. Tung Lok would probably need to buck up on their service level thoughRead More

Tung Lok Seafood 同乐酒家 is part of the TungLok Group which has manages more than 40 restaurants specialising in different types of cuisines under its portfolio. The Tung Lok Seafood restaurant specialises in Singapore style seafood. Refillable hot Chinese Tea at $1.50 eachCrispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk is a must try! The salted egg yolk well mixed with fish skin was fried with curry leaves and slices of chilli padi. So crunchy, tasty and savoury. Sinfully Delicious and addicitive! The Braised House Special Beancurd with Nameko Mushrooms and Vegetables was surprisingly good. A well-executed dish all the way from the cooking to the presentation of the dish. The tofu was smooth, soft and flavourful. Moreover, the sauce was just right as it did not overwhelm the different flavours of the ingredients and yet provided sufficient flavour to the vegetables. The Oven-baked Pork Rib with Chef's Special Sauce was average. Nothing great to shout about except that the meat came off easily. The prawns in the Deep Fried Prawns with Wasabi-Mayo Sauce were huge, firm and fresh. However, I thought that the wasabi-mayo sauce coating the prawn was forgettable and the wasabi intensity (spiciness) seemed to have been toned down. I did not find myself longing for another piece of the prawn. The Sambal Kang Kong was outstanding and well-fried. The sambal belacan with hae bee hiam (spicy dried shrimp) was spicy, fragrant and not oily. In additional, it was extremely addictive. Even though the Kang Kong was finished, I could not resist using getting whatever sambal belacan that was left on the plate. When we ordered the Yam Paste (Orh Nee) with Gingko Nuts served in Young Coconut, we were informed that we would need to wait at last 15 minutes as it is prepared and steamed upon order. It was well worth the wait. This is unlike the traditional teochew style yam paste. Thick fragrant yam paste with gingko. Surprisingly, the coconut flavour did not overwhelm the taste of this dish. The coconut flesh could be easily can be easily scrapped.Detailed review: http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2012/11/tung-lok-seafood-orchard-central.htmlRead More

This chilli prawns from this seafood restaurant is very much like the chilli crab, only is that the crab has been replace with the large crunchy prawns. The chilli sweet gravy is not too thick and also not too spicy. However I still prefer this gravy to go along with the crabs as think may make the dish may sweet and tasty. This dish also goes well with the deep fried mantou too. Read More

Very wide range of dishes to choose from in their buffet lunch menu. Was indeed very filling and satisfying. Their desserts are equally delicious which includes the Herbal Jelly served with Honey & Chilled Almond beancurd with longan. Both are cooling and refreshing. I have also enjoyed their deep-fried prawn dumplings served with salad sauce as the large diced fresh prawn in it is really juicy and crunchy. The external crust is also very crispy and fragrant. Do note a minimum of 4 persons is required for lunch buffet. Great hang-out venue with friends, relatives and colleagues. The environment is also very cosy and spacious. Read More

This is our family's favourite restaurant. The dishes are the best in its class especially the Chilli Crab + the Man Tou (Fried or Steamed). The crab's sauce is really incomparable. The environment is suitable for group's gathering whether it is for colleagues, friends or families. The service is really good even though sometimes due to the peak hour, it gets really slow to ask something from the kitchen. The head waitress is able to speak casually and friendly using Cantonese and also Chinese. This adds on the jubilant and lively atmosphere to the restaurant.Read More

Above are the 6 outstanding dishes under their buffet list. Especially the crispy fish skin with salted egg... this is definitely a 'must try' dish. Pan-fried carrot cake is also quite special. Stir-fried beef is very tender and juicy. Generally most of the dishes are up to standard, except for most fo the dim sums... think may need some improvement. Will give my verdict: 7/10 Worth the try as prices are pretty reasonable. :)Read More
