I ordered the larger plate of fried kway tiao ($5) because i queued for about 20 minutes (service was rather slow). The fried kway tiao was fragrant and the pork lard enhanced its taste. I'm sure that alot of us have heard of No.18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow as they are given words of praises as one of the best CKT (Char Kway Teow) in Singapore. These are supported by the award certificates pasted at the stall.It is not difficult to spot this stall as it is located at the corner and with long queues most of the time. This is absolutely the best char kway teow I have eaten so far, and is also my childhood favourite. I guess that sort of played a part, cos despite trying char kway teow from other places, none can please me other than this stall. I still like this best! Fried to perfection with a slightly moist texture with just the right amount of dark sweet soya sauce, it's flavourful and aromatic. You can smell the wok aroma from afar. This is one of the best fried kway teow in Singapore. There is always a long long queue during lunch and you need a lot of patience to queue for it. The kway teow has got a really good wok hei. The kway teow is not too oily. The kway teow was really smooth and chewy. The noodles is cooked well and not too soft. It does not stick to your teeth as well. they are very generous with the egg and cockles. Their cockles are very fresh and juicy. After my first visit a couple of months back, i have been back in several occasions to eat it and not getting tired, at least not yet. My favorite ingredient out of this plate of fried kway teow has to be the lup cheong. I do not usually eat it as some of the stalls over fried it and left it with an unpleasant burnt taste but it was done correctly at this stall. It was sliced at the correct thickness and nicely fried to give it a slight crisp and fragrant. The kway teow and mee were fried well to give it the taste of wok hei distinctively. It was rather moist hence the texture was softer. I liked the generous amount of pork lards added to add flavor to the dish.
