After a day of activities at the RWS, we decide to stop at Din Tai Fung for a light bite. The menu has recently updated with new items.Duck Spring Roll ($7.30++)Similar to usual deep fried spring roll, it has very crispy skin. Inside it is packed with slices of roasted duck meat. Tasty and unique.Shrimp Xiao Long Bao ($7.50++/6pcs)Although it looks similar to the usual Xiao long bao, it tastes drier than the usual original ones. There is a lack of soup in some of the Xiao long bao. Maybe the shrimp meat is unable to absorb the soup.Black Sesame Buns ($3.60++/ 3pcs)Similar to the small sized lotus paste pau, it tastes soft and smooth. My all time favourite prawn fried rice.. It is the best fried rice in my opinion. The prawn is so succulent and big. Definitely worth the price. The Xiao long Bao is not bad but can be better. Been to a few Ding Tai Fung outlets, however this is the first time dining at the Resorts World Sentosa's outlet. The restaurant is vast and interior is more classy as compared to other outlets. There are also several new items that can not be found in the menu of other outlets. One of the new items is Smoke Duck Spring Roll. It is crispy outside and the smoke duck is juicy inside. The red dates and glutinous rice is a pleasantly sweet dessert but sometimes the red dates are sour The rest of the main dish like Xiao Long Bao, Pork Chop Fried Rice etc are pretty much the same except for the service here. I am not sure whether is it because of the crowd that resulted in the drop of service as compared to other outlets. I will never forget the first time I sink my teeth into a well-made Xiao Long Bao (XLB) Pieces of Minced meat soaking the essence of a superior broth enclosed in an evenly hand-keeled dough. At Din Tai Fung, they did it... It's not a surprise since they're well known for their XLB.Do you need proof of their legend? Here's your proof!An open kitchen showing how they made each and every XLBs... Did I tell you that every single XLB is weighted before steaming? Now that's what I call professionalism!In my opinion, another must try of Ding Tai Fung's dishes. Hand-made noodles with a bowl of superior chicken broth. If I didn't went to China and tasted how a good bowl of noodles should taste like a few years ago, Then I would have easily said that Ding Tai Fung's noodles is easily the best noodles I've ever tasted!Hand-made noodles always tasted better than machine is because of how the chef imparts his/her love into the food as compared to a machine... So what's for desserts?Yes, you're right! Xiao Long Bao again! But this basket is a sweeter version. They used yam paste instead minced meat... Having stayed in festive hotel for a nite, we decided to settle our lunch in Sentosa b4 we leave the place... and to celebrate Aunty Margaret's B-day. It is the second day of the Chinese New Year, and that the Malaysia Street Food just opposite it, is crowded . Leaving Din Tai Feng as the other choice, besides Hard Rock Cafe.The wait here is formidable, but something that the front counter seems to have gotten it down to a well run Operation. Yes, you do have to wait but at least they make sure that you don't have to suffer needlessly. You are also asked to order in advance, so that by the time you are brought to your table about 30~45 mins later, you can pass them the order.This is my second Din Tai Feng outing in Singapore and while I will say that it has yet to hit a Michelin Star as its Shanghai Counterpart. It is not that bad. Neither am I full of praise for this outlet as well. Lets just say that the craft of Soup Dumpling (小笼包) making is of an acceptable standard. It is neither a disaster nor a masterpiece. Production line artisan is what I can compare it to. The food is of a rather acceptable standard. Not particularly standing out nor is there any glaring fault 1 can pick at. It is a place that I will go to for a dependable standard of food, and that it is probably worth a revisit if 1 can manage to get in when they are not so overwhelmed. Amazing flavourful drunken chicken. Cold, tender, fresh and delicious! Sichuan sliced beef is soft and juicy! I love the way it taste. Ordered a soup as well. I love the xiao long bao. The skin of the xiao long bao is just nice. Not too thick and not too thin. It does not break easily. The soup inside is very flavourful and the meat is very succulent. Hmm…. I don’t really like the egg fried rice they sell at this branch. I was quite disappointed because I heard that their fried rice is delicious however.... that was not what I tasted. The fried rice is very plain and everything. However, I think that it is because there were too many people at the time I ordered. The thing I like about Din Tai Fung was their takeaway box. I believe most people will agree with me that Din Tai Fung is the place where one can find delicious xiao long bao. But besides xiao long bao, there are many dishes which one should try too. Two of the dishes which I would like to recommend are the dumplings in red chili oil and vinegar (as shown in picture) and the century eggs (as shown in picture).Dumplings in red chili oil and vinegar - This looks oily and hot but it is not as as oily and hot as it seems, probably due to the vinegar, which I think makes the sauce kinda special and needless to say, tasty too!Century eggs - This tastes like the one which I tried in HK, Yung Kee restaurant. i went to sentosa with my family. It was a fun filled day at Universal Studios. We went to baits for lunch. Simply love the chinese food there. the xiao long bao was a killer. the soup inside is so tasty. the meat is minced very well. When dipped into vinegar and putting the entire thing into your mouth, the burst of the thin skin and the ooze of the soup really is ultimate bliss.
