While shopping at Novena Square 2, I came across this rice cake house and saw that they’re selling vegetarian Toppoki and decided to give it a try since it was vegetarian day and I’ve seen much of this on Running ManChewy, sticky and subtle tasting rice cake cooked in spicy, hot (temperature), peppery red sauce. The combination of the sauce and rice cake makes it toothsome and especially ideal if you’re in cold environment (too bad we don’t have snow in singapore) and for it to be vegetarian is a bonus for me. continue reading

My friend was a korean so when we past by this shop, he asked us to try some of this korean delicacy. First , he chatted with the store owner using korean language. Then the store owner let us tried all the different type of rice cake... the rice cake presentation is very nice , with colour like Green , Pink and white. there are dou sha filling( Red bean ) , Sesame filling , and plain rice cake In fact, i decided to buy the Red bean filling home ( 9 medium size in one pack ) which is $6.50 ... after that my friends suggest me to buy the sesame one , cause is more worth it ( 12 small size but $5.50 Only ) so in the end , i bought none. LOL But i bought the chilli type of rice cake ( plain ) and share it among with my friends. It cost $3. quite a lot ! TO me the level of hotness is acceptable , while my friends found it too choking. But my korean friend say the real one is even more "hot" . HAHA ....i can go korea le....^^ Overall, i REALLY like the CHEWY CHEWY feeling ! so nice ! But for price wise, it is not worth it . better than tibits which make me fat. continue reading

If you fancy Korean snacks, not the deep fried snacks, but the less sinful & healthier snacks like rice cakes, I bet you would love this Hankook Rice Cake House too. They serve a variety of traditional Korean rice cakes, be it stuffed with red bean, peanuts or simply the plain rice cake version. It's really good! Just like what you get in Korea. I especially love their traditional Korean Walnut Cake which comes in a bagful of small little cakes (or "kuehs" as I prefer to call them) that are walnut shaped and filled with red bean paste and baked with chopped walnuts. Very chewy and yummy! The red bean paste is also not too sweet, just at the right sweetness level. I can finish 1 bag very quickly & yearn for more hehe. continue reading
