I am a traditional Cantonese mooncake lover! I can eat the whole piece in one go when I crave for it.A friend of mine gave me one mooncake to try out. It was from this neighbourhood restaurant. I have patronised once at this restaurant some many years ago. They have huge hall as well as rooms for private dining.I couldn’t wait to try it, it was my Sunday breakfast with coffee. As long as I like the food, I don’t mind what to go with it. It should go with a cup of Chinese tea, instead I went with coffee as it woke me up in the morning.I like this approach low sugar, it wasn’t too sweet, none oily feel, white lotus was smooth, egg yoke released some oil from centre, which was good to the overall taste. If the egg yoke is too dry, it absorbs the oil from lotus paste, in the end the mooncake skin will become to dry or crack. A good mooncake should have all the ingredients properly balanced.This is not bad a choice. continue reading

Typical chinese restaurant which boasts clientele from tourists to young and old heartlanders. Food was pretty average, good food portion and affordable pricing which range from $218 for 8-10 pax set meal and $15.80 to $29.80 per pax for ala-carte value lunch. Many of the waitresses are old-timers and they are really friendly and truthful with their food recommendations. Durian Mochi ($2 per piece), if still available, will always top their recommendation list as dessert. It is because this crowd pleaser is a small chewy dessert, wrapped in a thin glutinous skin filled with creamy, fragrant durian puree, blended with D24 durian pulp. The mochi simply oozes durian puree with 1 bite and the glutinous layer then automatically melt in your mouth. it's simply heavenly! continue reading
