The korean food here is rather nice. I had the chicken set for $4.50 which came with a bowl of rice, cabbage soup and 2 side dishes that could be chosen. The kimchi was rather nice and the chicken was plentiful and well-marinated and flavoured. It also went well with the white rice. continue reading

This is one of the best korea stall you can find in NTU. The queue is forever the longest at cafe by the quad and if you didn't have a long lunch break, it is not recommended to queue for this stall. Their food is really nice, i am not a fan so korea food but i just suit my taste bud. The soup is also very spicy. I will recommend this dish to those who can really take spicy food. it costs me around $5, which it think is reasonable. continue reading

The Korean food here is prepared by Korean and is authentic yet reasonably priced. Long queues are expected during Peak hours. However, it is totally worth waiting. I ordered a chicken bibimbap set ($4.5), it came with rice, soup and a small serving of kimchi and anchovies each. The chicken was well marinated and had a mild spicy taste without being too hot. It complements well with the rice and makes a good filling meal. The soup was light on the palate and could be added to the rice to make it less dry. As for the kimchi and anchovies, the only regret was its small portion. It was really worthwhile at just $4.50. continue reading

Friends who know me well enough will know that I don't like Korean food... not that I have anything against them but it's just that their tastes are too strange. Not for me. The only one that I liked was the Korean stall in Hall 13 (NTU) but it was because it tasted like tze char. This time, I decided to give it another chance since my friend strongly recommended this new stall that recently opened at The Quad. The aunties manning the stall were SUPER EFFICIENT. There were 7 items on the list and then the auntie just asked everyone in the queue (at least 10+ people) to order by shouting our orders. Then I got my order within 5 minutes even though I was quite far behind the queue. I orderd the Spicy Beef Rice Set ($4.50) and look at this set! It is so worth it - it has the kimchi slices, fried sweet ikan bilis, soup, a bowl of rice and a hotplate of spicy beef. Where can you find such a good deal? What's more The Quad is air-conditioned... I love this - the spicy beef is not too spicy and very fragrant. There wasn't the strong beef taste, and the texture was as tender as chicken. Very well done and definitely a hidden find in NTU. Will definitely be back for more.P/S: My friend ordered a $5 Steamed Chicken Rice set meal which has the kimchi slices, fried sweet ikan bilis, soup, a bowl of rice and a huge portion of half a chicken in soup! Wow. I'm definitely impressed. continue reading

Went to try out the new korean cuisine at The Quad besides School of Biological Sciences... I tried their hotplate chicken set. It comes with a bowl of rice, a bowl of soup, 2 side dish - kimchi and fried ikan bilis, The hotplate chicken is well-marinated, and its marinated sauce really sips deeply into the chicken meat, making it very tasty. However, the ikan bilis have a very strong stench (those kind of fishy smell) which refrains me from eating it. The soup is quite bland though. continue reading
