Each time when I visit Tampines Mall, I will not fail to pick up at least a few sticks of the Fish Otak from none other than Lee Wee & Brothers. The spices added to the fish otak is well textured with a good combination of spices such as fish paste, shallots, garlic, scallions, egg, coconut milk and flour wrapped with banana leaf. The rempah (spices) is the key ingredient to a good stick of otak and I find Lee Wee Brothers otak is one of the best I have tasted. There is a wide selection of different kinds of otak to suit individual palate.Priced at 60 cents each for fish and non spicy otak. The fish head, prawn, squid, fish roe and crab otak at 90 cents and addition to these selections, there is also the banana leaf assam fish, prawn and squid at $2.60 each.Lee Wee & Brothers Foodstuff are halal certified. continue reading

This nasi lemak stall serves various nasi lemak sets. The rice has a smell of coconut fragrant when the rice is still warm, but I feel that the texture of the rice is a tad too soft and I more favorable Pandan rice which is healthier and the fragrant is nicer. The nasi lemak is also accompanied with very good sambal chili place on Pandan leave; this is what I loved…I ordered Set E which costs $3.80. The set comes with delicious Fish Otah, crispy and fresh ikan bilis, crispy and tender Ebi Tempura (Japanese style of fried prawn) and the chewy Fish Cake accompany with crunchy peanut and fresh Japanese cucumber. What I like the fish cake which is not too oily. Add in the samba chili sauce taste very good. continue reading

This is the normal kind of fish otah which is sold around $0.80 per piece which is abit pricy i think for quite a small and thin otah. However i think the point whereby they wrapped it in some leaves to bbq them which is more authentic. This could be eaten together with Nasi Lemak, normal rice or a additional ingredient to our noodles. It is chewy and of fish flavour therefore it is healthy! continue reading

I have bought the fish fillet nasi lemak set and was quite impressed by the different types of side dishes that go along with the fragrant coconut rice. Love their sambal chilli sauce which is not too spicy and full of the fragrant from the dried prawns. The fish cake is chewy and not too oily. The ikan billis are very crispy and filled with the sweetness of it. The peanuts that are mixed in it are also very crunchy and delicious too. The portion is quite alright and the service staffs here are also very friendly as well. continue reading
