Our orders for 6:Whole chicken - $27Fried Tofu - $3.30Vegetables - $3.30The chicken was smooth & tender, and I finished my rice alright. Fried tofu was nicely complemented by the sweet & sour chilly sauce. A good meal, I must say. Then again, if that was the standard for Chatterbox, where chicken rice cost about S$20++, I dun quite comprehend.I mean I would have expected something more impressive, or change my idea of chicken rice so much that I wont never consider eating chicken rice elsewhere.

Our orders for 6:

Whole chicken - $27

Fried Tofu - $3.30

Vegetables - $3.30

The chicken was smooth & tender, and I finished my rice alright. Fried tofu was nicely complemented by the sweet & sour chilly sauce. A good meal, I must say.

Then again, if that was the standard for Chatterbox, where chicken rice cost about S$20++, I dun quite comprehend.

I mean I would have expected something more impressive, or change my idea of chicken rice so much that I wont never consider eating chicken rice elsewhere. But no leh, it's just chicken rice to me.

Dun get me wrong, I will still eat this chicken rice if I go to Downtown East, even though it is slightly expensive than my neighborhood stall. But to travel here just to taste the famous "Chatterbox standard" chicken rice, erm, I think not. *Shrugged*

Mr Chicken Rice is opened by the retrenched chef from Chatterbox at the Mandarin hotel. A big newspaper cutting of the chef is displayed in the restaurant. It is self serving here. You placed your order with the cashier (the chef in the newspaper cutting), paid and collected your order. I ordered the 2 person combo meal that came with chicken, a selection of one the side dishes (vegetable in oyster sauce, bean sprouts or signature fried tofu) and two bowls of soup.Being branded as the Chatterbo

Being branded as the Chatterbox chicken rice, I was a bit disappointed as I find that the chicken was quite normal. I have eaten better ones eleswhere. The rice had a rich chicken and ginger flavour but the rice was too hard for my liking. Don't get me wrong, the chicken rice was good but maybe I was disappointed by my high expectation.

These chicken feets selling at this shop is really glossy, soft and juicy. One of the best thing about this chicken feets is that they are boneless so is easy to eat without having to take a longer time to enjoy this dish. The thai chilli sauce used as the gravy is the usual sauce which you can get from the supermarkets, however maybe some sesame oils are used in this dish to make it more fragrant. Portion should be consider alright as at only three dollars and thirty cents per place and it i

Value for money set lunch is available at this famous Chicken rice shop which is located in the downtown east resort. The stall owner was previously the chef at one of the popular hotel in Singapore. At only five dollars and ninety cents per set, you get to enjoy a plate of fragrant chicken rice with fragrant white chicken meat, with deep fried tofu and a bowl of clear vegetable soup. It looks appetitzing and the taste is equally good as well. This set is one of their popular sellers and till

The chicken rice here is really delicious!;DThe rice is not too oily and the sesame oil flavour is so rich within the rice. The same goes for the chicken too.(:The chicken is tender and juicy, portion was quite a lot too. They have choice for a set to go with our chicken rice, which includes a portion of the sweet and spicy thai style tofu.Had tried the tofu previously and they were really spicy but nice! Had tried the tofu previously and they were really spicy but nice! It was fried till golden for the outer of the tofu and the inside remains so soft and smooth. The sweet and spicy thai flavour reaches the inside of the tofu;D

Although the price may be a little higher than normal chicken rice, for such a delicious tasting chicken rice it is definitely worth it.(:

Used to be a ex-chef at the Chatterbox coffeehouse in Meritus Mandarin hotel. I was curious on the quality of the food. I bought my mum there for lunch. I ordered 2 sets of chicken rice. The chicken rice is ok, nothing special. Have to comment that the fried beancurd that comes with the chicken rice set was pretty good.
