When the set arrived it looked very apprising. The fish nicely grilled and aroma from the miso soup. I tucked in and was disappointed, the fish didn’t have much taste and was overly salty. I am not sure this was because the fish was previously frozen or that the meat doesn’t have much taste. The plus point was the miso soup was very flavoursome and salad was fresh. Even though the fish wasn’t very good I did like the concept of the restaurant and will go back to try other items on the menu.

One day while out with a fellow colleague, he recommended me to try the food at this restaurant which i never knew existed at Takashimaya. It is tucked away at the farthest corner, hidden among the many gems at Taka Food Hall.

Anyway we ordered the same set, Salmon ($11.50). We first place our orders before we are directed to the only seats available, which was the counter seats. Oh well. The place was still quite full though it was a little after lunch time. We were seated and had to wait a while for the food to arrive.

Although i am taken aback by the price, it proved to be worth every cent. The salmon is quite fresh and also cooked to perfection. It's just so fresh that it hardly needs any seasoning. Though the sauce that came with it is great too! The portion is a little small but i think it makes up for it with the overall quality of the meal! Anyway the meal comes complete with salad, so you get your protein and your green nutrients.

The overall decor of the restaurant is plain and simple but the food is definitely thumbs-up the best. No harm coming back to try their other food!

This open door outlet in Takashimaya serves up delicious grilled fish and is indeed very popular with diners. There is always a queue when I go past there and today I decided to join in the queue. We tried the Oden and it was very good. The soft boiled braised egg was simply excellent because the braising sauce was good. We also tried the Gindara Teriyaki set and I liked the sweet teriyaki sauce. The set comes with miso soup and white rice.

If squid is not fresh, it becomes extremely tough and hard to eat. I tried the grilled squid at Nakjima Suisan Grilled Fish and I liked it because it was fresh and the grill was done just right. The squid came out perfect, with the temperature and the toughness just right. One bite and you are in squiddy heaven. The grill sauce itself is sweet and extremely savoury, complementing the grilled squid very well.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Nakajima. I ordered the Saba set that comes with Japanese rice, miso soup with radish, grilled Saba fish, Salad and a hot green tea. I really enjoyed the lunch cause it only cost $8.50 and the Saba fish was delicious and crispy. I finished every bit of it, except the bones of course. Was glad that it came with a hot green tea too. I thought that it was really worth it was really affordable and comparable to food court pricing. Whats more, they also served other dishe

My favourite place for Japanese styled grilled fish and rice, this place is as good as it is affordable. The cheapest set is the saba fish one at $7.50, but I’m a fan of the Hokke Hiraki Set as the fish tastes so buttery! Each set comes with side of salad, miso soup and free flow of green tea. The fish here is fresh and those who enjoy their fish will truly appreciate it.

Walked around Takashimaya and decided to have lunch hereThe saba fish set came with a salad, soup and rice. As usual, I didn't touch the miso soup at all because it's just not my thing; I always find it too salty. The fish was fresh and nicely done. The meat was succulent and tender. I felt that at $8.50, the meal was well worth it.On the next few occasions that I went down, the place was packed and there were no seats so I have not had a chance to try the rest of the menu

Dropped by the Takashimaya basement food hall for lunch one day and decided to give Nakajima Suisan a try and it ended up being a great find. The set came with a side salad, that was surprisingly crisp and perfect as an appetiser, as well as miso soup. The salmon was perfectly grilled so much so that it flaked under pressure, and coated with teriyaki sauce. The entire set was extremely filling and definitely worth the buck at only 11.50$.

I brought my friend there that day and she loves it too!
She ate till the last bite and she kept it for the very last until she finish the miso soup, salad and everything! LOL.

Nakajima has quite a variety of main dishes but I think almost everything comes with a miso soup, a salad and green tea (refillable).

$8.50 Saba fish set is totally worth it and if you want something new can try the saba mirin too! It just taste a bit sweeter than usual grilled saba, but it still nice

We browsed at Takashimaya basement for our meal idea. We didn’t want to eat meat so we chose fish that day. I don’t cook fish much at home because I don’t like the fishy smell after cooking, furthermore, fish selling at supermarket doesn’t look fresh to me. Having said that I would like to have fish in a Japanese restaurant as I have faith on the way they handle fish/seafood.Their menu is putting at the entry so we can browse before we decide. We browsed at Takashimaya basement for our meal idea. We didn’t want to eat meat so we chose fish that day. I don’t cook fish much at home because I don’t like the fishy smell after cooking, furthermore, fish selling at supermarket doesn’t look fresh to me. Having said that I would like to have fish in a Japanese restaurant as I have faith on the way they handle fish/seafood.

Their menu is putting at the entry so we can browse before we decide. We have to order our food then be seated. Frankly, they serve few types of meal set only plus oden, all with fish. We ordered big saba and cod, 2 set meal plus oden.

Oden isn’t conveniently available here, this little bowl costs S$7, it doesn’t cheap though as it has 5 items only. Moreover, we can’t choose what we want. When it was served, it came with an extra bowl of soup(small of course)and some julienne spring onion. First taste the soup, “fantastic”, it has rich bonito flavour, light and sweet, confirm no Msg! I would say the sweetness was from the Japanese turnip, it melted in your mouth. The rest of the ingredients were good too.

Big saba was succulent and fresh to taste. In terms of size, it did bigger than my cod fillet, that’s why they named it big. I found my cod was slightly overdone, anyway, cod is rish in fat, it can bear the long cooking with taste tough. Overall taste was right.

Though it wasn’t really big portion for each meal, we felt satisfy afterwards. Probably the fresh ingredients accomplished the small portion.
