NYDC, New York Dessert Cafe serves not only coffee & dessert also main courses as well. But we went there to try their desserts & coffee.Goldmine Cheesecake ($6.80 per slice)The base of the cake is the solid Oreo cookie and the top is coated by chocolate fudge too.Really tasty, not too sweet but it's perfect dessert. I would like to recommend this cheesecake. The Hot coffee ($4.80) is just average, the Cappuccino ($5.80) too.

Main courses - We were given to choose from Santa's Wagyu Steak Frites ($28.80), Merry Merry Mixed Grill ($26.80) or Traditional Cornish Hen ($16.80). We tried the Merry Merry Mixed Grill and Wagyu Steak which is our favorite. Steak grilled to perfection with the pink meat within, tender and juicy! And it satisfy a steak lover like myself. Nydc is famous for their desserts and mud pies. And for this year's Christmas, nydc has specially came up with Tutti Frutti Mudpie ($11.80). It's really good, must try! Thank you Brad for having us!

I have to agree, nydc is one of the perfect places to celebrate life. You don't have to wait for a special occasion to celebrate, life is meant to be celebrated everyday. I love nydc's interior at their Tampines branch but I love their Bugis outlet even more. Goldmine Cheesecake ($7.20/slice, $68/whole)

It's Ally's New York cheesecake with chocolate chunks, slathered with irresistible chocolate fudge topping. It came with solid Oreo cookie base. I am a cheesecake person but I have not tried chocolate cheesecake before. My verdict? The cheese and choc combination blended really well. Just perfect!

Boo Boo ($6.80/slice, $62/whole)

nydc's friends' chocolate cake with piped swirls of light whipped cream. For me, this is the B-O-M-B! I think the heart-shaped cake that we had last Valentine's is very similar if not the same to this. According to nydc, diners come back for this time and again. What's there not to go crazy about a chocolate cake baked into perfection? It is very moist, it literally melts in your mouth. A must try, highly recommended!

3-some Mudpie ($11.80/slice)

It's ménage à trois (threesome) of guilt-free kind. Get ready to get wild and gooey whilst sandwich between 3 layers of chocolate chip cookie dough, strawberry and strawberry cheesecake icecreams and graham crackers. Soooooooo yummmy!!! Strawberry and chocolate combination is fail-proof.

Jedi Mudster ($11.80/slice)

The force is tempting us with this enticing mudpie. It is made of double chocolate chip and Macadamia nut icecream on an Oreo base with homemade cookie chunks, complete with chocolate fudge and whipped cream. This is the crowd's favourite. There's no need to explain further why.

During my younger days, NYDC used to be one of my fav place to go for a mushroomy meal. As more and more different eateries popped up in the recent years, I have not have a chance to go NYDC till recently when I won $200 food vouchers from them. However I was kinda disappointed with the food quality.
Went there on a sat evening and ordered 1 berry lemonade pitcher ($8.50), 1 chocolate monster($6.80),1 mushroom munchies($7.80),1 mushroom madness pizza ($15.80) and 1 sunny sausage ($15.80) and spent a total of $64.40 for 2 pax. With the vouchers, the exact amount spent was only $4.40.However I left feeling unsatisfied and rather sad cos NYDC no longer has the yummy mushroomy food that I used to crave for.
The 1 pitcher of berry lemonade ($8.50) was ok,not too sweet nor too sour, and could served about about 31/2 serving thus no complain for the price paid. However the dessert chocolate monster ($6.80) was rather too sweet to be palpable thus it was left rather untouched. As for the mushroom munchies($7.80),it was rather bland and not appealing by the way they served it and it tasted really ordinary. The biggest disappointment came from the mushroom madness pizza ($15.80), it was so far apart from the mushroomy, cheesy, yummy pizza that I used to ate. The pizza crust was thick and the mushroom toppings were dried.I think they changed the sauce as well and it tasted weird to me. As for the sunny sausage ($15.80), it was actually bangers and mash with a sunny side up. The pork sausage tasted dry and it has a very strong taste of porky pig smell. However the cheesy chicken sausage was ok and I like the mash as it was made from real potato unlike many places which have already started using those powdered mash.
As for the service, i would say that the staff were attentive and friendly. Thus if i were to go back again, it will be bcos of the staff and not the food. Thank God that i have vouchers to pay for this unsatisfied meal

the chicken sausage is actually with cheese inside. taste was akin to those you buy in supermarkets. pork sausage tasted weird and we did not finish it. so here again, just go to the supermarket to eat such disappointing food.

However, the mashed potato was not bad. seems they used real potatoes and not the powder ones.

Service was acceptable at the cashier.

While Sloppy Joe ($14.80) looks as messy as it sounds, it was my favourite burger that day. With ingredients like minced beef stew on beans, mozzarella, lettuce, it was easy to chow through the burger and less likely to encounter any tough parts like the beef pastrami earlier

And here comes the moment most people(at least for me) who visit NYDC are waiting for......DESSERTS!!! Well, we can't miss their signature mudpies like the Cookie Monster($11.80) which is not too difficult to wrestle with. I love the bottom layer (Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream) more than the top layer (Double Chocolate Chip ice cream) even though they are meant to be eaten together with the Oreo cookie base. The bitter coffee accents help to balance off the sweetness.

A new category is the plated desserts. "I Scream Burger" is definitely something that screams "Try Me!". Not an average ice cream bread, the undersides of the brioche bun are toasted. Hence, being crunchy yet fluffy, it is perfect for mopping three scoops of ice cream.

If you have only space for one dessert, go for the Peanut Butter Crunch Time($6.80). A rather outrageous combination of hot crunchy peanut butter bread pudding and chilled vanilla ice cream I would say. The peanut butter sandwich is toasted before baking in a custard bath, so there was an extra crunch and buttery aroma. This was so delicious that I nearly devour the whole thing by myself.

Average price points have been lowered and it is pretty affordable to dine in here especially when you are sharing the food. With so much good food yet to be tried, I guess I no longer have to wait till special occasions to come here!

NYDC is popular for its desserts, but it has mains as well, like burgers, pizzas, etc. We ordered a Mushroom Madness pizza, and it's good for 2 to share if you are both small eaters, at 10 inch. It is topped with fresh mushrooms and baked with their garlic sauce. I didn't really like their sauce as it's a little sweet, and the crust isn't particularly nice as well, it's more biscuit-like, and has a distinct buttery taste. The cake has a melt-in-the-mouth texture and it does not taste overwhelmingly chocolate-y so you can eat one whole slice without feeling "sick" of the taste even if you are not a chocolate lover. It leaves you longing for more!

Goldmine Cheesecake ($7.20/slice or $68/whole)
The cheesecake is smooth, rich, and has a creamy texture. True to the description, the oreo cookie base is very solid but you can easily break it up into chunks along with the cheesecake. I will recommend you to share this because it can be rather filling after your main courses.

3-some (mudpie) ($11.80/slice)
This delicious looking mudpie has 3 different layers of ice-cream flavours - chocolate chip cookie dough, strawberry, and strawberry cheesecake ice-cream. Strawberries' lovers will love this.

Jedi Mudster (mudpie) ($11.80/slice)
This is my favourite of the lot together with the Boo Boo cake. This mudpie tastes heavenly. I love anything chocolate so I really like this. I can probably eat a few slices without feeling queasy.

I Heart You. That's how I profess my love to you. Do you know? I guess you do. Layers of red velvet cakes beautifully covered with a layer of cream cheese. It's light but a little too light for my palette. I could barely taste the cream cheese you know?

There's this thing that I don't quite understand about NYDC - why must they serve their cakes with whipped cream? I mean I give them points for attempting to "beautify" the palette. It's just degrades those beautifully crafted beings (cakes). I would prefer if the cakes are accompanied with a gracious scoop of ice cream or just the cake itself. That's me. I don't think there's a need for such fanciness where it shouldn't be. But apart from that, NYDC is without a doubt a good place for desserts, particularly their mudpies. I am just glad that there's a branch at Tampines 1.

French vanilla and Double Chocolate Chip ice cream with Baileys on an Oreo Base, topped with chocolate fudge and whipped cream.

If you love ice cream cakes, you're bound to love this more! It has so much more than what an ice cream cake can offer.

3-some mudpie ($11.80/per slice) It comes with three layers made up of chocolate chip dough ice cream, strawberry ice cream and strawberry cheesecake ice cream, sandwiching cookie crumbs and graham crackers. It wasn’t as sweet as the 3-some mudpie and if you are chocolate lover, you wouldn’t mind to have the second servings.

Anyway, NYDC is currently having a promotion where everyone gets to enjoy the desserts at the discounted rate.
You may want to check them out in their facebook page constantly for the update.

If I could recall my secondary school years, NYDC was one of the places for desserts. Little did I know that this brand was originated from New York and had established its first shop at Holland Village since 1995.

Until now, I still don't understand why this chocolate cake is called Boo Boo ($6.80/slice ). But I do know it still has the same taste as the first time I've had it. It is simply a light, not overwhelmingly rich chocolate mousse on chocolate sponge draped in a thin chocolate ganache.

If you are looking for something to beat the heat, then this "3-some"mudpie ($11.80) will be a refreshing treat. I happily chomped through the chocolate chip cookie dough, strawberry and strawberry cheesecake ice cream on graham crackers, though it has an almost synthetic sweet aftertaste.

The Goldmine Cheesecake ($7.20) is a classical dense New York-style cheesecake that sits on a firm Oreo cookie base that disintegrates less easily than usual digestive crust. The softest and the best part lies on the top, where the creamy cheese fuses with a smooth chocolate fudge.

What tempted me the most is the Jedi Mudster ($11.80/slice), a double chocolate chip and macademia nut ice cream on an oreo base, drizzled in gooey chocolate fudge. Though it sounds like a challenging chocolate monster to defeat, it is less sweeter than the 3-some mudpie without being too cloying.

A peep at their new menu suggests some delicious items like P-Nut Buttered Up and Englishman New York .They certainly sound promising enough for me to plot a revisit, perhaps back to this outlet because I like the rock and roll pigs, don't you?
A Merry Ambience Indeed.
