service was very prompt and courteous. appetizers of fried fish skin and braised pork on bun arrived fresh and tasty.the braised pork was succulent. The spare rib and pumpkin soup was a real surprise as it was not greasy and tasted very light with perfect seasoning. I particularly enjoyed the seafood vermicelli as the noodles were cooked perfectly and dry with just the right ammont of fish proteins

Paradise Inn has a range of set menus priced at $10.80++ to $11.80++ which are available on weekdays during lunch time. These are one dish rice or noodle meals that are served with a bowl of double-boiled soup of the day, blanched lettuce and an appetizer. The main course is served in a stone pot but serves no purpose since the dish is cooked separately. The office crowd does not have the luxury of time to afford a lengthy or leisurely lunch break so it is redundant to serve the main course in a container that keeps the food warm over an extended period of time. I picked the seafood vermicelli set - the noodles were tasty if a tad salty, and were cooked with exactly three pieces of each ingredient - shelled prawns, calamari rings and fish sliced as thinly as fishcakes in a typical bowl of fishball noodles. To get more bang for your buck, opt for what my colleagues did - plain rice with a choice of either fried pork rib, sweet sour pork, sautéed chicken, etc - all similarly served in a heavy stone bowl. Drinks are no longer included in the latest menu of lunch sets, though water is served at no extra charge.

I had dinner with a friend in Paradise Inn a week and a few days ago, and it was unforgettable.I have never known coffee can be used as a marinade for any meat and it was a delicious one indeed. We ordered so many things, some exotic, like the black chicken soup, which I was too afraid to eat, I only slurped the soup, because the black chicken was not appetizing to me, but the soup was okay.we also ordered their yang chow fried rice, their coffee pork, their sweet and sour chicken with yellow capsicum and two glasses of strawberry Iced Tea.the Iced tea was definitely delicious and refreshing, If I didnt stop myself, I would have finished the whole glass in one gulp, but since drinks are very expensive here, I stopped myself and lovingly sipped through out the meal.I did not know what to expect with the coffee pork, I had the idea that it might be savory and bitter, but when it arrived it almost tasted like the sweet and sour chicken, only it had the roasted coffee aroma and after taste. It was deliciou, but to rich to eat with little rice. You'd end up eating a bowlful of rice when you eat this surprising dish. After a while it becomes too sweet to eat for my taste, its like eating candied pork. The sweet and sour chicken is a different story, I can eat it alone, even without rice or noodles. It was just the right sweetness and the chicken was cooked well that its not hard and stringy. The thing that disappointed me in this restaurant though is that I found that my bill had a charge for the wet tissue that they served as well as the roasted peanuts that they served as appetizers. I just felt cheated that they would charge me for something that I didnt ask for (peanuts) and for something that should have been free or atleast complimentary (wet tissue). But all in all my experience is good, I will definitely come back again to paradise in, but not as frequently as the other restaurants I love.

I have heard of this restaurant chain for a while and have yet to try out. We tried to avoid the crowd and have our dinner around 8+pm. The restaurant was quite full but we didn’t need to wait for our seats. We browsed other tables for food idea, the pot of soup appeared in most tables. It seemed their soups were good. We were damn hungry and our eyes were bigger than our stomach! We have ordered their recommended sea whelk with ribs soup, bean paste steam fish head, deep fried white silver fish and spinach with 3 eggs. When we placed the order, the lady who took our order gave us a surprise face~we have ordered too much. The little dish of braised peanuts was served automatically, it was really a good dish, peanuts was big and soft and melted in your mouth, the taste was appetising. Good food didn’t come with a cheap price though, it cost $5, worth it or not, no judgement on me.Dishes were served almost the same time. I couldn’t stop drinking the soup, it was super good, one could taste it has boiled for long hours, whelk was left a bit of mild taste and really soft and smooth, ribs were tendered even the soft bone. They would fill up our bowl when we have finished-good service. Deep fried silver fish was crispy like chips, it was good with a cold drink. Spinach with 3 eggs was above standard. Here come the bean paste steam fish head, it was the last dish to serve, it wasn’t steamy hot when served. We have eaten this dish many times at Chinatown, we know very well what we are looking for this dish. The fish was overcooked, it was tough, in terms of freshness and quality, it has rooms to improve. Frankly this dish spoiled the overall standard. I would say worth to revisit without ordering the steam fish head.
