Wave Cafe is located in a quiet corner on the ground floor of Mercure Roxy Hotel, just next to the lift lobby. It has an open concept and a casual vibe, with a mix of two seater dining tables and comfy sofas beckoning people passing by to drop by to relax and chill. There is a full length glass showcase fronting the counter displaying a tempting array of sweet treats like cakes, desserts & muffins as well as savoury baked items like pies, pizzas & quiches. Wave Cafe also offers reasonably priced
Although we've just had our dinner at the Hotel's Chinese restaurant, Jia Wei, upstairs, we were enticed by Wave Cafe's display of Easter offerings and their pretty cakes peeking out of the glass display. There were Easter eggs, chicks and bunnies crafted by their pattisserie team that were priced from as little as $3.50+. While most hotel bakeries create Easter themed confections out of milk chocolate, Wave Cafe has Easter goodies made of dark chocolate and white chocolate as well.
We picked a dark chocolate Easter bunny ($12+ for 9" tall) and four of their desserts ($4+ per cup). The desserts tasted as good as they looked. Recommend the chocolate mousse topped by a big strawberry, the mango mousse and the black forest dessert. The latter is strangely topped by a wedge of kiwifruit but the cake & chocolate mousse combo had a hint of liqueur and contained really delectable morello cherries in it. The passionfruit mousse was refreshingly tangy but we would have liked it to contain at least some passionfruit pulp.
