It was a lovely evening, and a couple of us gathered for an al fresco at Marine Parade's Parkway Centre.Seattle Pike Chowder is a franchise brought into Singapore by Giojio International, alongside Giovanni L. Seattle Pike Chowder hails from the America’s celebrated chowder house - Pike Place Chowder in Seattle, Washington (United States), owned and founded by Larry Mellum. Area: Marine ParadeCountry: SingaporePrice: $Good For: Small Groups / Friends / Solo / FamilyAccessibility: Not too accessible - better to drive here, or take a bus.Note: There are 3 sizes per soup. Another option is to have it in a bread bowl as well New England Clam Chowder (Prices from $8.90 - $14.90. $12.90 with bread bowl)This was my favourite. Not only me, but this award-winning chowder from Pike Place Chowder has not failed to impress most at the table. With its ingredients freshly imported from Seattle, it was flavourful and rightly thick. They were also very generous with their clams and other ingredients, like potatoes, celery, onions, etc.Seafood Bisque Chowder (Prices from $9.90 - $15.90, $13.90 with bread bowl)This is also another flavourful chowder, prepared with tomatoes and generous with their seafood.Smoked Salmon Chowder (Prices from $9.90 - $15.90, $13.90 with bread bowl)Unfortunately, this was my least favourite as I felt the taste of the salmon is a little strong for me. This would sit well with those who loves a smoky hint in their soups. Each soup takes about 15 minutes to prepare, but it is worth the wait. This review is by invitation. Thanks to Openrice and Seattle Pike Chowder for hosting the session.

Comprising of Chopped Ocean Clams, potatoes, celery, onion, thyme, white pepper, sea salt, clam stock, butter and flour.Served in a crispy bread bowl prepared fresh from the kitchen is the best way to ensure your soup stays warm and 'smoky' throughout. We were amazed by the high "insulation" of the breadbowl. Even 20 mins down after serving. Besides the bread was crusty and not toughen. It was very easy to tear the bread apart, accompanied with which chowder choices, served as a fufilling yummy and soupy meal.Packed with ample ingredients among the thick delectable chowder, this breadbowl is good for sharing as well should you have a small apprtieieAs we were too full after each of our breadbowl, subsequent servings came without the breadbowl just for tasting. It has been a while since my last tasting with OpenriceSG. Thanks to Reka for extending the invitation. Located along the heart of Marina Parade Central, Seattle Pike Chowder flagship store is attached together with Giovanni L’s gelato at an outdoor dining area. If you are first time here, you might want to look for McDonalds location as it is just opposite the store.Seattle Pike Chowder serves 6 types of Chowders and their ingredients are freshly imported daily from Seattle. As for the bread bowl, it is locally sourced if you curious about it. The price range from S$12.90 to S$14.90 with bread bowl and if you opt without bread bowl, the price is from S$8.90 onwards. So, we are here to try 3 different types:-New England Clam ChowderIt was served with the bread bowl and we took quite a while to enjoy the soup as we are busy taking photos. Surprisingly the soup is still warm in the bread bowl. I enjoyed the broth as it is rich and creamy with generous ingredients such as chopped ocean clams, potatoes, celery, onions, white pepper, sea salt and clam stock. You can imagine how flavourful the taste in it with the different types of ingredients is placed together.Seafood BisqueIf you are a seafood lover, you can enjoy this rich flavour of seafood chowder. There are salmon, cod, crab, bay shrimp, garlic, black pepper, sea salt, tomato basil cream broth, shellfish stock, cream, butter and flour. The broth is creamy with savoury taste of all the seafood ingredients.Smoked Salmon ChowderYou can taste the strong smokey smell of the chowder. So, either you like it or you opt out. This is not my cup of soup but some of the openricers enjoyed the broth. Ingredients such as smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, potatoes, onions, celery, tomato, garlic, smoked salt, black pepper, shellfish stock, cream, milk, butter and flour. I prefer salmon sashimi over smoked salmon. Thus, the smell and taste of the smoked salmon is overwhelming for my preference. But the broth less creamy compared to the first two flavours.

The flagship store is located at Parkway Centre across from Parkway Parade, Marine Parade. Very informal and alfresco dining where you can just go in your tees, bermudas and flipflops.Served in a bread bowl, this chowder stuffed with chopped ocean clams, potatoes, celery, onion, thyme, white pepper, seasalt, clam stock, half n half, butter n flour. Thick, creamy and robust texture which can easily fill your tummy. The bread bowl was unfortunately over toasted which resulted it being hard and tough, even pulling out the white "flesh" from the bread proved to be a challenge. Chowder could do with less salt. Regretfully to make a mention, I bit into a tiny piece of clam shell which fortunately didnt do damage. Perhaps it was an oversight for this particular serving. After having the clam chowder, i find that the seafood bisque with plentiful ingredients of salmon, cod, crab, bay shrimp in a tomato basil cream broth tasted quite similar to the clam chowder except that it was slightly tomatoey. Quite salty so it is best to eat it with bread. The smoked salmon chowder which was cooked down with cream cheese, capers, potoatoes, onion, celery and tomatoes, is my favorite among the 3. Not as thick & creamy, it leaves a very distinctive smoked salmon taste on the palette. Not overpowered by the cream cheese & capers, the smokyness and the saltyness were well balanced. Highly recommended if you love that " Seattle Pike Chowder serves creamy seafood soups by Larry Mellum, the award winning ladle of New England & seafood bisques in US. Comes in small, medium and large at $8.90, $11.90 & $12.90 respectively. Ingredients are imported from Seattle. So if you crave for authentic seattle chowders, head on down to their store at Parkway Centre. Sometimes a hot steaming chowder is all you need!😄

A good, piping hot (bread) bowl of thick, creamy soup ought to be perfect for this rainy evening, hence Seattle Clam Chowder located at Parkway Centre - within miles of the East Coast seabreezes, ought to soothe the soul and warm the body. Seattle Clam Chowder hailed all the way from Seattle, USA, as the name implies, serving up different types of piping hot clam chowder. Seating was casual, outdoorish and comfortable. If you choose your soup served in bread bowl, it costs between SGD$12.90 to SGD$14.90 a bowl; for the soup not served in bread bowls, the price starts from SGD$8.90 onwards. We started with the New England Clam Chowder served in bread bowls. The soup was creamy, viscous and filled with ingredients - chopped ocean clams, potato, celery, onion, thyme, etc. Because it was clam broth, there was a succint sweetness to it and was quite smooth in taste and texture overall. The bread bowl was crispy from the start to the end - even after the soup was pretty much finished. It was amazing, and the bread bowl kept the soup warm for a long time, even though we were sitting outdoors. Finally, Smoked Salmon Chowder was brought over by friendly Kenny. This soup was not as thick, compared to the previous two we'd tried, but retained the saccharine flavour of shellfish stock beautifully. Texture-wise, this was the silkiest of the three. Ingredients consisted of smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, potato, onion, celery, tomato and garlic etc, all complementing the taste of the soup very well. What left the deepest impression was the smoked salmon, redolent of a strong, fragrant, smokey taste that heightened the sweeter notes of salmon's own. I thought this was a rather close fight with the New England Clam Chowder earlier on.For full review and more detailed information, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/08/media-invite-seattle-pike-clam-chowder.html
