My friend, *Charliez and I read about Senki Japanese Restaurant in reviews, and it seemed pretty good, therefore we decided to pay a visit to see how this one fares.

When we got in, the waitress showed us to our table and handed us a pretty rose-toned menu. We decided to go for the buffet dinner. The interior was dimly-lit and the place was quiet, hence it was perfect for a few hours of catching up without being disturbed. Going for buffet would be the best choice since we could slowly enjoy our dinner.

Some small dishes we ate before the mains were served - such as the Edamane Beans - a preparation of immature soybeans in the pod, found in the cuisine of China, Japan and Hawaii. The pods were boiled or steamed and served with salt; the Cheese Potato Croquette and Agedashi Tofu (pronounced as "aga-dash-shee toll-full") - Japanese way to serve hot tofu. Silken firm tofu, cut into cubes, is lightly dusted with potato starch or cornstarch and then deep fried until golden brown.

Me, being a Sashimi lover, ordered my must-have item whenever I visited a Japanese restaurant. Sashimi is a Japanese delicacy consisting of very fresh raw meat or fish sliced into thin pieces, usually eaten with a spicy green paste named Wasabi. The small platter consisted of very succulent Sashimi of salmon, tuna, swordfish and squid.

I also tried their Chumwanmushi Japanese steamed egg, usually with a small piece of mushroom, gingko nut and chicken / crabmeat inside. I loved the smoothness of Senki's chumwanmushi.

*Charliez had the SukiyakiJapanese hotpot with meat, vegetables, mushrooms and egg in soup. It was scrumptious and she was extremely satisfied at the quality of the ingredients.

To our surprise, Senki served us a Dragon Maki (sushi "mat roll") on the house... a lovely sushi creation arranged to resemble a dragon, made of Japanese rice, avocado, mango and prawn fritter roll. It was a very lovely surprise, and the Dragon Maki was heavenly - a blend of savory crispiness toned down by the sweetness of mango and softness of avocado. We loved this absolutely.

I have tried a few japanese buffet restaurant and I personally feel that Senki is one of the better ones. Their pricing is reasonable and they have a good variety. What stands out was their generous cut of sashimi. You have 5 different types to choose from. They are all very fresh. Give it a try and be sure to make a reservation!

After trying so many different Japanese buffets, I would say that all of them have pretty much the same variety. What will then make the difference between one that I will return to and one that I will not return to? Of course, it is the quality of the food! Senki has over 100 different kinds of variety for its buffet. Good spread. However, I felt that the sashimi was not really fresh except the swordfish sashimi (I ate a lot of that). Towards the later part of the night, the salmon sashimi was really bad. One additional point to note is that Green Tea is not included in the buffet which was a great disappointment.

The Nasu-miso was pretty good though. The plus point to Senki is that they have many nice cooked dishes. The Ebi Tempura is also up to the standards!

Overall, I think that Senki serves an average fare of Japanese food. They also have an Ala-carte menu if you are not a buffet fanatic! For the same price range, I would prefer Irodori to this definitely.

The buffet is at $30++ for lunch and $33++ for dinner. On eve of public holidays and public holidays, the buffet is at $39++.

I dined at Senki around last month when I met up with my ex colleague from work. We both like sashimi, which made our order of the platter a natural choice. In addition, we also tried their tempura as well as udon. The tempura batter is light and crisp and the prawns are fresh. Both of us agreed this is good. The sashimi is a little of a let down because I felt that it isn't as fresh as I would have liked, so this is just average for me. The udon is just to fill our tummies, so not too much expe

I brought my girlfriend to senki for some nice japanese food. We both really love japanese food and this place serves really good japanese food. We ordered their sashimi, california rolls and various sushis. Their california rolls is really good. the seaweed is so crisp. The rice is cooked perfectly and not a lot of rice vinegar can be tasted. Most importantly their ingredients are really fresh. The sashimi is good too, very fresh, melts in your mouth.

A couple of friends and I went to senki for some Japanese indulgence. I ordered their delicious sashimi platter. It was really good. the sashimi was so fresh, it simply melts in your mouth. Lucky for us, we went at an off peak timing so it was not too crowded and we need not wait long for our food to be served. their maki were really nice too, generous with the ingredients. I love the California roll the best. But it was not as cheap as sakae sushi.

I've dined in Senki before and had a great dining experience. I have long time never visit there. My friends and i decided to revisit the place again as we love sashimi so much. But to our disappointment, the standard of the food had dropped alot and service also very slow and lousy. Somehow, i don't think it is worth the money to eat there. Don't think will visit there again unless their standard had improved.

It was a once-a-week makan outing for our group of 4.

Craving for Japanese food, we decided to go Senki – our favourite Japanese buffet restaurant as they serve a wide spread of variety ranging from the fresh sashimi platter to grilled salmon , grilled chicken wing, deep friend tempura items and mini-portion udon or fried rice. My favourite item for the day is their Jaigamo Mentai(Grilled Potato with Cheese &Fish Roe). I had 2 portion of it and requested for additional cheese and fish roe toppings thus it tasted abit like cheese fries but with additional bits of bbq fragrance.

However, I personally felt that their tempura platter could be further improve by choosing a different batter as the items wasnt as crispy as what I would expect when serve.

Overall, will recommend items such as Sashimi Platter, Tebayaki (Grilled Chicken Wing),Jaigamo Mentai(Grilled Potato with Cheese &Fish Roe),Kabocha,Mangoo California. To enjoy the ultimate freshness of the sashimi platter, visit on either a Tuesday or Friday as fresh ingredients are shipped over from Japan for the week.
