The cake is sponge with fruit topping, taste is normal to me as not a cake lover. Finally our noodles arrive. The noodles is firm and spongy with Japanese sauce. Very well done and I personally like the soup of deluxe pro, it is warm and thick and taste so shiok. The environment is very well decorated but modern Japanese style. Overall is nice experience.

The 黒豚トリフチャーハン Black Pig Truffled Fried Rice ($18.80) has a relatively starchy texture compared to usual Chinese fried rice as Japanese short-grained pearl rice is used. Perfumed with the umami fragrance in a good way that complemented the flavors of the pork, this ugly but tasty dish is a rare gem amidst the zenith of wayward uses of truffle these days.

It was a rainy day and people I was talking to were discussing about ramen, making me hungry with craving for ramen, hence decided to pop over to Takashimaya's Tampopo to satiate it. We started with a small platter of Salmon Sashimi (SGD$15.00) - quite fresh, bouncy and succulent. I love my salmon sashimi anytime, anywhere - as long as it is not limp or unfresh. We tried the Kani Ramen basically translated into Spicy Crab Ramen (SGD$11.50), which was not spicy at all. We tried the Kani Ramen basically translated into Spicy Crab Ramen (SGD$11.50), which was not spicy at all. The thick, sticky broth was kind of bland, and the squiggly yellow ramen noodles were a little too soft for our liking. There was no lusciousness of crab flavor, but nonetheless, it filled the stomach and the amount of (faux?) crab meat + shimeiji mushroom was generous.

Time for my personal favorite - Black Pork Ramen (SGD$10.50 for small portion) was sumptuous as ever - with the thin slice of black pork sweet and succulent. The soup was awesome as well, rich but not too creamy. The noodles were springy / bouncy the way I enjoyed it. If you order the huge portion, it comes with the flavored egg as well, enhancing the overall satisfaction level.

The bowl consist of slices of black pig with bamboo shoots and lettuce. It is then topped with lots of chilli flakes and spring onions. It looked super spicy but thankfully, the spiciness is quite mild. I like that the pork bone broth is flavourful and the noodles were al dente! However, I did not especially enjoyed the thin slices of black pig. I guess I prefer the thicker kind of meat. Anyway, they offer a wide range of items on their menu and I will be back!

Most of people know about Tampopo, a famous Japanese restaurant in Singapore. Premium Japan Beef from Iwate was their signature, such as Sirloin and Rib eye. Yet still, I prefer Ramen, typically and decent-flavoured. Having 10 years pre-Anniversary promotion currently, selected item was in half price. Noodles were straight and thin, slurping into mouth easily. Surprisingly not turned mushy after soaking in soup, noodles remained springy. Carried on with a spoon of thickly rich broth, it gave a v

Noodles were straight and thin, slurping into mouth easily. Surprisingly not turned mushy after soaking in soup, noodles remained springy. Carried on with a spoon of thickly rich broth, it gave a very good and savoury enjoyment. Beautiful environment and finest quality of Ramen, we satisfied everything here.

Perhaps I went there on a wrong day but both my buddy and I didn't like the light broth that lacked complexity in flavour. However, the portion was generous and the ingredients used were of high quality. The noodle was springly and the pork were sliced and seasoned to the optimum taste.

We also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken to share, I can't remember the price but I remembered that this was too expensive for its portion, almost $7 if I'm not wrong. Definitely something that can be skipped.

Overall, it was a relatively average experience, but I like to believe that its just one of wrong days. I may visit the outlet at Liang Court next time to hopefully get a better experience.

Chocolate Marble Chiffon Cake - $6.50

OH! So soft!
This cake is one of the softest cakes I've ever eaten! Fluffy like clouds, I was literally on Cloud Nine~

The cream is not the sick-in-your-stomach conventional cream, it's really light and soft and not so sweet and most importantly, does not make one sick!

The almond pieces help to balance the taste of the whole cake by adding some crunchy and natural-sweetness factors!

Overall, I love this cake so much! Worth every penny!

Tampopo's broth is the flagship flavour of Tampopo and the soup is really a masterpiece of Tampopo. It is netiehr too salty or spicy, and the right combination and mix of flavours gives rise to a wonderful taste and smell. The ramen itself was very springy and tasty, and tasted great when eaten with the broth. The tonkatsu meat was sadly overshadowed by the broth, but in any case the tonkatsu was still tasty. It was crispy while the meat within was chewy and fried to a nice golden glaze. The overall feel of the meal was an excellent one made possible by the extraordinary taste and flavour of their ramen! If you're looking for an above average ramen experience, Tampopo is the place to go!

When shopping with mum and passed by Tampopo. Remembered my friend once commented that their Tamago is very good with soft egg white and runny egg yolk. Since it was off peak period and mum always wanted to try it, so we went in. Tampopo is the pioneer of Black Pig, so we ordered a Black Pig Cutlet Ramen. It was very crispy but a little hard, however if you dip it into the broth, it is very juicy.

Had myself some black pork today. In my own honest opinion, I really can't taste the difference between black pork and regular pork. This however should not stop you from coming to tampopo because the food is not too bad!The service here was fantastic, food came immediately and the staff were helpful and friendly. I felt like I was in an up market Chinese restaurant.

Looking for some comfort food for the week like steamboat type and the thought of shabu shabu makes my mouth water. Having been to Tampopo twice, the thought of the black pig shabu shabu was so tempting that I had to dine there as we walked past. It’s rather pricey though but worth it. Pricey because one meal per person can easily set you back at around $20, worth it because it makes you so full, yet it’s quality food.I had black pig for my shabu shabu instead and it was the pricier option ($24.

I had black pig for my shabu shabu instead and it was the pricier option ($24.90) so I supposed it’s better? My friend had japanese curry chicken cutlet set ($21.90) and it comes with a free one time refill of rice and salad, but only after you’re about to finish then can you ask for the refill.

One major tip for eating shabu shabu; I didn’t realised that the soup can’t be refilled for free and I literally took my own sweet time cooking the meat (it’s quite alot) as well as the other vegetables. When my soup was half gone, I asked for refill but the person say I must pay additional $2. And the sauce for the meat was super duper nice! But actually it’s just japanese soy sauce with spring onions.

As for the japanese curry, it’s the bomb!! It’s really quite good! The plate of curry with carrots and potatos was small yet rich in flavour! The chicken cutlet came with big shrimps
which was very nice as well!!

I didn't really like the waitress that attended to us in the area as she seemed rather rude to us when we ordered our food and tried to enquiry more on some of the dishes and she replied rather curtly. But there was one trainee that was quite nice and kept refilling our glasses of water!
