After walking around Holland V, we decided to settle for The Fat Cat. A bar like environment with kind of fusion foood, or rather a choice of various cuisines like Thai, Western, Indian etc. They have promotions for cocktails or certain alcohols too like 1 for 1 or at discounted price.
So we ordered one 1-for-1 Frozen Margarita. & for food, we ordered 2 pcs tandoori chicken ($10), marinated with Indian spices and yoghurt and baked in the clay oven til tender. Portion might be a lil too small i feel, if there’s 3 pcs it will be just right! Also ordered, butter chicken ($13) and garlic ($3) & plain ($2.50) naan. Butter chicken is nice, i always like how aromatic and rich it is.
For western, we ordered the mixed sausage platter ($8), mixture of cheese and black pepper sausage. It tasted usual like those from the convenience store. nothing fantastic. There’s hot pot clams served with grilled bageutte ($12). The sauce is rich with white clam taste with tinge of white wine, but a lil salty too. But it tasted well dipping the bageutte with the sauce.
we basically ordered a few kinds from all the different cuisines available. So for thai we ordered Pad Thai Chicken ($11), Green Curry Chicken ($13) and Red Duck Curry ($14). Red duck curry is quite a innovative dish i would say. It’s roasted duck curry with with seedless grapes, honey, pineapple and fresh red chilli. Very refreshing and create taste! It’s very sweet and not really spicy, suitable for those who cant take spicy food! And to my surprise, there were several chunks of duck meats, grapes and other whats not.
Overall still a satisfying meal at first try!

Certain appetisers and mains are slightly above average but some has room for improvements. Sad to say, desserts was a tad disappointment. For more info, visit http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2014/07/the-fat-cat-bistro-holland-village.html

Plus points for family with kids, they have kids portions for Western pastas and a a short list of food to choose from in Thai's menu.

I'm glad to be invited for a food tasting session w them, to savor some of their best dishes from the 3 different kitchens. A starter & a main to start off for each cuisine - of course ending on a sweet note w desserts. Thai Menu - We sampled the pomelo salad, something unique - sweet & sour, definitely kick start our tastebuds. Green curry was decent though.

North Indian Menu - If you're a fan of naan and chicken masala, you'll definitely love this set of menu. We tried the garlic naan, it was super good.

Western Menu - Be sure to savour their signature items like Lamb Shank, Duck Confit or Crab Meat Pasta. I personally love the Duck Confit, very tender and soft. Desserts was average overall. With a spread of mouth-watering dishes from 3 different cuisine, I'm pretty sure they can satisfy your craving. The Fat Cat also serves a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, beers, wines, cocktails, coffee, juices - you will be spoilt for choices!

The restaurant is an open concept bistro place that make for really good casual dining or just while away the afternoon. We sat outside and despite the fans, I did feel a little hot and stuffy (especially after the walking in the sun), so I decided to order a nice apple cider to cool down.

I popped by on a weekday afternoon, where they offer special set lunches. I decided to try the Indian food and ordered their North Indian Set A ($10.90) which comes with a choice of 2 dishes and basmati rice or naan. I choose to have fish curry and butter chicken sides together with rice. The fish curry was not too bad, though I might have found it a little too fishy for my liking. The butter chicken caught me by surprise- it is essentially chicken pieces cooked in a tomato-butter gravy. I was initially a little worried about how the tomato butter gravy would turn out, but I actually preferred this to the fish curry. It had a nice rich tangy tomato taste to the sauce which went really well with the tender chicken pieces and basmati rice.

It had a great crowd, and I love the al fresco concept. Many reviews recommended the butter chicken, and that is a definite must on your first visit there. The buttery curry formed a perfect coating with the tender chicken meat. Married with the garlic naan, it was a match made in heaven. I had to order an extra serving of naan because it was simply too delicious! I wiped the very last drop of buttered curry clean!

Instead of the pizza/pasta, we decided to try their phad thai, and what a great choice that was!
The noodles weren't coagulated, as most phad thai often are. The spicyness provided just the right kick, and the peanuts went perfectly with the noodles.

Head there before 8pm to make it in time for their Happy Hours, they have affordable beers which goes really well with their food. A very satisfying visit, and wimbly lu is right next door for desserts after!

p/s: There is no service charge so do remember to tip! The servers are wonderfully helpful so we left a pretty big tip for them!

The Fat Cat restaurant has an interesting concept in which they serve 3 cuisines: French, Indian and Thai. I’ve not tried their Thai food, but if their French and Indian food is anything to go by, I’m sure that it is fantastic. My husband and I are fans of all the kinds of Naan they have here, be it cheese naan, plain naan, garlic naan, they are all simply delicious in texture and taste. We tried a bean stew with different cuts of meat in it; lamb, beef and chicken and the meats were so tender that they practically fell apart at the touch of the fork. It was a speciality for the night and I do hope that they have it more often.

it’s a baffling prospect to go to a place that serves up three cuisine options all at once – and rather a relief to find that this isn’t some madcap venture, and that the food is genuinely all good. I put this down to the fact that it’s done up food-court-style, with the cafe basically serving as a communal dining area for three different stalls (and therefore three kitchens): thai yai, masala mantra and the french onion.

the place is packed out – and a little cramped (though not uncomfortably so, especially since it’s a casual joint) – and you get handed this large folder of a menu upon seating. you take your pick amongst the three menus – or do what we did, and go for all three – and the food comes relatively fast and fuss-free.

it was a predominantly indian meal for us – we particularly liked the value-for-money sets on the menu – all tender, well-spiced and moist, these were very good. we got appetisers to share from the european menu – a lobster bisque and calamari. not offensive – which is to say that its quality is rather in line with the surroundings. the thai fried rice though, was truly surprising in execution. it had all the wok hei and flavour you’d expect from a restaurant, and there was a huge mound of it.

it’s now on our roster of family haunts – and the variety offered here is one of its largest draws, especially since we don’t always agree on what we want to eat. it can get a little hectic during dinnertimes, and they seem a little short on staff: they were rather harried when the place filled up and we had to wait to get our orders in, but when they’re there, service is pretty dilligent.

Had a sampling of phad thai, and the noodles were done just right. As for the seafood aglio olio, the wait was somewhat longer than expected. The noodles were done al-dente but a tad too dry. The plate was filled with a chockful of ingredients which included prawns, mussels and squids. Liked the prawns in the aglio olio because it was not overcooked, and the squid rings were huge and tender.

Nice place to chill and relax with friends.
