So my colleague and I wanted to have a chill place to hang out and chit chat and not squeeze at other canteens with other people from theNearby offices. It's a very quiet place and there was ample seating, def not a crowded place and the service was very slow. We got up to order ourselves because we got tired waiting and a young girl immediately snapped at us saying we will come to you. And the boy taking our order wasn't familiar with the menu. We asked if we could top up to change the hot coffee to a mocha for the set menu and the poor chap had to keep running back and forth to ask another staff. 10% service charge.. What a joke! The food was at best OK. I had the smoked salmon croissant but at $12.50 it's over priced. The fries weren't cooked all the way ...... And the rest of my colleagues felt that their food was so so.... Might not come back, since it's so expensive on top of that, there's still a 10% service charge continue reading

For full review and photos, please visit shirlynnyang.blogspot.comLocated at the 7th floor of a building along paya lebar road, there is no way you will chance upon this cafe! The Seafood Aglio Olio was good! It smelled really good when served and the seafood was really fresh. I felt that it tasted normal from the usual aglio olio we get outside. It's less oily (which I prefer even though olive oil is supposedly healthy) and very spicy! I think they added chili flakes, makes the dish tasted like chinese version of dried noodles! The Roasted Chicken Leg was nice too. Chicken was juicy and the sauce goes very well with it. The fries were hot and crispy too.I love the brownie! Crispy edges with moist centre! And the nuts are bite sized its as if its non-existent (cos i hate nuts, so its good for me! )Overall, I think the food is pretty good and prices reasonable! The staff is really friendly too! And the big plus point is, its quiet! My friends and I absolutely cannot stand being in a noisy cafe! Hope to go back again when their second level is done! continue reading

For full review, please visit > http://ahat247.wordpress.com/2013/02/12/tuckshop-cafe-paya-lebar-road/We finished our bi-weekly volunteer session at MacPherson and decided to check out Tuckshop, a cafe that is hidden in Paya Lebar industrial area. You can find the beautiful furniture creations in the cafe as the owner also has a furniture showroom in the same building.I was at a lost of what to order for lunch after looking at the list of food on the chalkboard.Fret not, let me pick a seat in the cafe. Each piece of furniture is a piece of art. After finding a nice table for us, it’s time to study the menu…I ordered their signature fish and chips. The fish fillets are nicely fried while the batter is light and crispy. I like their mayonnaise and the presentation of the dish. However, it is only a decent fish and chips, nothing outstanding about the flavors of this main course.Had a root beer float to wash down the fish and chips. It’s been a long time since I had A&W root beer. The last time I had it was in Thailand.Tuckshop Cafe is a nice place to chill out with friends during the weekends as there aren’t any crowd. You can eat slowly and enjoy a nice long conversation over a cup of coffee (in my case, a cup of hot chocolate). I would definitely be back to check out more of Tuckshop’s dishes when I am in the vicinity after my volunteer session. continue reading

Whenever I pass by this stall, I will definitely buy their mixed vegetable rice. The choices here are really wide and interesting. One of my favourite dish, which you can likely get it from other places is their dark sauce sotong meat. The sotong meat is chewy and quite generous portion will be served to you too. The dark sauce used in cooking this dish goes really well with the sotong meat. The rice portion is equally generous and just with this sotong meat dish is really good enough for me to eat with the plain rice. continue reading
