Uncle Tetsu 徹思叔叔起司蛋糕 has opened its first outlet in Singapore!! If you have not heard of this brand, this is a very famous and popular brand - for using premium Japanese dairy ingredients to produce Japanese style cheesecake. Uncle Tetsu originated from Kyushu, Japan and has been in operation since 1990s. It has outlets in Japan, China (e.g. Shanghai) and Taiwan (e.g. Taipei). In Taipei and Shanghai, it is so popular that there are perpetual queues and customers are limited to a purchase of 1 box each. Uncle Tetsu's Cheese Cake $9.90Uncle Tetsu's Cheese Cake $9.90Uncle Tetsu's Cheese Cake $9.90The spongy cheesecake $9.90 was incredibly soft, light and fluffy. It kind of melts in the mouth. In addition, it did not taste too cheesy and was not dry. I am not even a fan of cheesecake and would only take one bite of most cheesecake just to test the flavour. But for Uncle Tetsu's Cheese Cake, I must totally love it! Shiok! A must try!I wonder if queues will start to form for this too. Do note, their cheesecake can only last a few days as they use little or no preservatives. Sadly, this shop seems to have closed down. Not sure if they have exited Singapore .http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2014/01/uncle-tetsus-cheese-cake-ion-orchard.html continue reading

I was looking for a good Japanese cheesecake so did a google search and saw some rave reviews about Uncle Tetsu.  Went to buy one. At the counter, the young lady just took out a cake in the box under the counter and packed into a bag for me.  The cake was not warm but room temperature.  Once I reached home, I cut it and took out a slice.  The bottom of the cake felt wet which is weird.  On looking, I was relieved that it didn't look soggy underneath.  On tasting, I immediately dislike the texture. It felt like I was eating foam (not even like mousse).  Then,  I thought it may taste better or firmer if it was refrigerated. So, I left it in the fridge for a few hours before trying again.  Slightly better but still too soft and foam like.   The cake also tasted eggy with a dismissable tint of cheese flavour.  So why call it a cheesecake then? Since it has hardly any cheese flavour and it does not have any cake texture.   continue reading

Uncle Tetsu Cheese Cake started their first branch in Singapore recently. The brand is very popular for producing Japanese style cheesecake. Uncle Tetsu originated from Kyushu, Japan and has outlets in Japan, China and Taiwan. All cheesecakes are baked fresh daily in the stall. Due to the high demand and limited quantities for each batch, there will be new batch fresh from oven over times. There are two types of cheesecake offered here which is the original flat cheesecake and the dome shape cheesecake. It comes with 3 different flavours – Mango, Strawberry and Chocolate S$13.90 for Dome shape cake. The original cheesecake S$9.90 was soft, light and fluffy It does not taste too cheesy at all. It sort of melts into the mouth especially the ones that are freshly out from oven.Store Manager shared some insider information about Uncle Tetsu during the session. The secret to their cheesecake is that they will steam the cake before baking them. Thus, this explains the differences on the texture of the cheesecake with others. No added preservation in their cake at all and best to store in fridge. The cake only can last for 3 days. continue reading

For full review: http://uniquelious.blogspot.sg/2014/01/uncle-tetsus-cheese-cake.htmlTetsu Ojisan, a famous brand producing the Japanese style souffle cheesecake has finally opened an outlet in Singapore!! Located at Ion Orchard, it is a must try cheesecake which will melt in your mouth. The freshly baked Japanese style cheesecake is made from only cheese & eggs from Hokkaido & Miyagi to create a soft and light cheesecake texture.Freshly baked Uncle Tetsu's Cheese Cake @ $9.90Verdict? The texture is smooth and very soft compare to the denser typical cheesecake that we usually ate. It is a much dryer texture and do not have the taste of cheese or vanilla, more on the egg. But the cake simply melt in your mouth. I really like this kind of feeling. Not recommended to those cheese lovers. The cake can be eaten at room temperature or keep in fridge for cooler feeling. Both ways will give you different feelings when eating this cheesecake. As their cakes hardly contain preservatives, it can only be stored for a few days. continue reading

Japanese Cheesecakes that are light and fluffy. Great taste of cream cheese without being too rich in flavor. Freshly baked in the store, hand made and piping hot out of the oven. Some people like to eat it while its warm, but others have said it taste great after refridgeration. At S$9.90 per original cake it's definitely value for money! continue reading
