The vegetables were either too old or overcooked - it was hard to chew and tough! The chicken was nothing to rave about as well (disappointingly) - lacking tenderness and smoothness, that we felt the other chicken rice houses (i,.e. competitors) did much better even at their hawker stall outlets.

Most importantly, the chicken rice itself did not posess the fragrant aroma of ginger-chicken broth at all. Granted, it was not very greasy, but the taste of a good bowl of chicken rice complements the chicken at times, especially when the chicken in question here was bland.
Four of us spent a total of SGD$66.00, and with such service and food standards, rest assured that it was the first and last visit from any of us. It was a disappointing meal, to say the least.

The service was utterly disappointing. The waitresses were loud and brusque, kept walking way before we even finished placing our orders. When the food came, they just plonked the food down without even announcing what item was being served, or helping to arrange / set it properly on the table. We ordered alot of items, hence the tabletop was filled with dishes naturally.

One of the items we ordered was unavailable that day, but the waitress at the chopper stand kept shouting out at us - how were we to know she was talking to us, and were we supposed to shout our replacement orders back in turn?

We ordered half a chicken (the oil chicken "you ji") - which was very average, not especially tender or tasty. The rice lacked fragrance of chicken rice (usually chicken rice has a distinctive ginger / garlic fragrance) and was soggy. The braised eggs and innards were bland and soggy too, and the vegetables ("you cai") was overcooked so a tad hard to chew.

On top of that, we found the food to be oily overall. This was the worst meal we've ever had, and we knew we would not be back for more. Food and service leave much to be desired. Note that so far I am very kind in all my food reviews because I am not a demanding or fussy person when it comes to my food; on the contrary I am rather easy to please when it comes to dining. Hence for me to pen this painful review, the standard was really mediocre and I could find no kind words for the incredibly lousy experience.

It is weird given that at their former Novena Ville outlet, the place was much more smaller with fewer tables, but we never have to wait for a table there. And, we had to share tables here too.

Anyway, we decided to order the steamed white chicken for 2 pax plus rice, instead of the 1 pax chicken rice which is $4.80, an increase of $0.80 (used to be $4 at Novena Ville), I presume it is because of the now air conditioned premises and that it is now at a shopping mall instead of a coffeeshop. The chicken for 2 pax ($8.50) is actually a quarter chicken, and we ordered two fragrant chicken rice at $0.80 each. (Plain white rice is cheaper at $0.50.) Love the rice as usual, so fragrant and fluffy. And the quarter chicken is more than enough for the two of us, smooth and tender, so yummy! Satisfied!

The place now also sells other dishes other than chicken rice, just like those dishes found in zhu chao stalls. So, it now is another place to consider for dinner if you want something more than chicken rice!

I ordered their signature Wee Nam Kee Fried rice. What I like most is the real diced char siew meat unlike other stalls that put vegetarian char siew. When the fried rice is served to my table, can smell the nice and fragrant aroma. The rice grains do not stick to each other and have a good wok taste & fluffy too. The ingredients such as small shrimps are also very fresh. I always like to put their chicken rice chili into my fried rice and taste shiok. As for the service, the waiting time can be

As for the service, the waiting time can be quite long during lunch hours but still worth it for the excellent fried rice. Overall, is a must try for all fried rice lovers !

Wee Nam Kee has been around for ages now so you can always count on them to deliver awesome chicken rice. We ordered the half chicken ($16), with a mix of steamed and roasted chicken. We got the drumstick part for the roasted chicken! The proportion of steamed and roasted chicken were not very equal. There was more steamed chicken than roasted ones. However, as usual, the meat was tender and juicy. I find that the ginger and chili are one of the best that I've tried. We arrived around 7pm and go

Hainanese Chicken:
For the Hainanese chicken, we also ordered a set. Instead of Cai Sim, we chose wonton soup as side dish. This chicken is not as good as the roast chicken. It is a bit too dry.

Wonton Soup:
This is the side dish of the Hainanese Chicken set. There are four wonton inside the chicken soup. It is quite a big portion as a side dish. And it is tasty too!

The food quality in this restaurant is not so fantastic. But as a restaurant in the central, its good dining environment and affordable price can still attract a lot of people.
