I have been a fan of Thaipan ever since I tried their butter squid - most easily the best butter squid in Singapore (or at least to me). Not only well-known for their butter squid, other dishes are worth a trip as well.Having more than 10 vegetable dishes to choose from, I went for Broccoli with Fresh Crab Meat ($8). Nothing to rave about, but the crab meat gravy was flavourful and broccoli crunchy. Do try their Stir-Fried French Bean with Dried Shrimp ($8) or Kang Kong ($7) as well.Honey Chicke

Honey Chicken ($9) was well marinated, crispy on the outside, and tender chicken meat on the inside. Honey Chicken from Thaipan can easily compete with that from Lemongrass.

Next up is the legendary Butter Squid ($10). How can one visit Thaipan and not have their signature dish? The most wonderful thing about their butter squid is, of course, the gravy. Thick gooey butter gravy with a tinge of spiciness from the small amounts of chilli padi added to enhance the taste. It's fried but does not taste oily at all. This will be the dish that gets snapped up the fastest if you go with a group of friends. But do note that it doesn't taste that good if you takeaway; best to eat it on the spot.
