I heard that Mouth restaurant has opened a new outlet at Plaza Singapura, thus decided to check it out with my friend. As far as Mouth is concerned, she is famous for her salted egg yolk custard bun or commonly known as 'Liu Sha Bao'. Hence, we decided to give it a try. On top of that, we also ordered squid ink char siew bao, banana fritters and others. The reason for ordering the unusual, because we want to break away the norm from the usual dim sum delicacies like char siew bao and siew mai. The texture of 'Liu Sha Bao' over at Mouth is flaky instead of soft. When cut open, you can see luscious of salted egg yolk lava oozing out from the slit. Squid ink char siew bao is delightfully delicate with generous filling of sweet char siew. Banana fritter is crisp on the outer layer and moist in the interior with tangy banana fillings. In a nutshell, 'Liu Sha Bao' tastes unexpectedly sweet, rather than with a salty-sweet combination. Surprisingly, banana fritters, though it looks simple and normal, but it emerge to be the best in taste out of all; crunchy, sweet and arouse my palate with a nice fragrance of sesame.
