Since most of the food stalls in the Ion basement food hall were closed for refurbishment, there weren’t many food choices available when I visited, so I headed to Ginza Bairin to try their weekday set lunch. I had the oyakodon set for $9.90 which comes with a bowl of miso soup. Oyakodon is a delicious rice dish topped with a chicken and egg topping. The rice grains and ingredients are soaked in savoury gravy which enhances the flavor of the dish. I felt that this dish was not too bad; the chicken was soft and tender, the egg could have been a little runnier but still very flavourful. The bowl of rice was rather filling and satisfying. I looked around the restaurant and saw several people ordering the tonkatsu curry rice set which looks really appetizing as well!
