Torte is a nice break from the busy Orchard life. Tucked inside the SCWO at Waterloo Street, this place is slowly getting the attention it deserves (even without so much publicity) because of the food. I went there for dinner last Friday -- and I ordered the Roasted Chicken thigh with potatoes and salad. There weren't a lot of diners there, since it is still a hidden gem, and order was served in less than 15 minutes.
My chicken was generously drizzled in peppered sauce. As such, the taste was absorbed down to the bone. It was also cooked very tender and as soon as my knife touched the meat, it easily fell off the bone. As for the potatoes, they were a good replacement for rice. Salad was also fresh provided a healthy aspect to my meal.
You can't really leave Torte without trying the desserts. After all, Chef is known for his desserts. I ordered the Chocolate Torte and my gosh-- it was one of the best I've tasted. It wasn't too sweet but it was very rich. It was drizzled with chocolate sauce and sitting on top is vanilla ice cream. Two thumbs up!!Post
