First up was the Batura, an indian bread that is deep fried and puffed up. It's almost identical to prata except its not as chewy or stretchy. Batura is almost like poori which is another famous indian dish. it was served with 2 delicious side curries. The item was so huge that even my camera could not capture the entire image. The first curry consisted of chick peas which complimented the dish very well. The second was a cabbage and pea side dish which also tasted good. This meal was mild hence

Batura is almost like poori which is another famous indian dish. it was served with 2 delicious side curries. The item was so huge that even my camera could not capture the entire image. The first curry consisted of chick peas which complimented the dish very well. The second was a cabbage and pea side dish which also tasted good. This meal was mild hence it is perfect for those who are not into spicy food.
This dish is basically vadai with yoghurt and nuts. It is perfect to compliment any spicy dish and can even be eaten on its own. It compromises of 2 vadai's and a generous portion of yoghurt which is known to be very cooling for the body. It is both filling and refreshing. Perfect as a snack.
I decided to take away a couple of indian sweets for the rest of the family. It consisted of Jalebee (orange) which is basically deep fried. It's on the oily side but its a good treat now and then. Laddu (round ball) is also another famous indian sweet thats made with spices. It's sweet and always present during birthdays among other occasions.The white sweets are milk sweets make of milk powder. Definitely one of my favorites as they are not too sweet and melt in the mouth!
