My friend and I decided to be adventurous when I suggest to have dinner at a random restaurant around City Hall area. When we walked past Rock & Ash, the UOB card advert attracted me because of that 20% off their Pork Knuckles. Then I read the fine print, and it was suppose to expire in Dec 2012. I snapped at the waiter saying that it should be removed, but he politely mentioned that it is still going on. I decided to give this place a try. The menu needs to be reprinted. The menu needs to be reprinted. It has many parts being taped over to cover old text/menu items. The fries portion was not obvious enough. In fact, I did not know that fries were in fact their specialty until I checked out other reviews here. The set options were not obvious.
So you have to order at the cashier and pay there. Sure, I was ok with that since it really looked that they were short handed. The kitchen was right behind the cashier, and many thanks to heaven, I did not spot any unhygienic area. You had to get your own utensils from a counter. I was not comfortable when I spotted wet ones.
The fries saved the day because its dip's hot kick was delicious.
Mash potatos: I am already not that ok with this kind of instant mash potato thingy, and the sauce had to be lumpy.
Pork Knuckles: This is their signature dish, and the knuckles passed. In fact, if they had cut it up for me before serving, it can match up with those from Brotzeit. I love the moisture and how some of the juices were retained inside. The sauce to go with it was good, but I do not understand how can tobasco sauce go with it. Some parts of the meat was overcooked and hard though.
