My group ordered two platters for our dinner feast, The Knight Gawain for 4 to 5 pax ($89.50) and the Knight Lancelot for 2-3 pax ($87.90). And boy, I could tell you that it was well worth every penny spent. The Knight Gawain consist of succulent roasted beef with black pepper sauce, perfectly marinated boneless chicken leg on a kebab stick, chicken breast grilled to perfection with berry compote and the lean pieces of porkloin with rich mushroom sauce. I have to say that my favourite dish in this platter would be the grilled chicken breast, hands down. Not only it is perfectly cooked, it is succulent, juicy and perfectly marinated. Accompanied with the berry compote, the combination of the sauce and meat is simply out of the world. Likewise, the chicken leg on a kebab stick is also well-marinated and charred grilled to perfection. The roasted beef was cooked medium as we requested. It wasn’t too overly rare or well-done and it was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of pepper and salt. The beef was juicy and tender, a perfect complement to the booze we had.
The Knight Lancelot offers an addition to the meaty delights that The Knight Gawain has to offer - seafood items in the likes of mussels with tomato sauce, oven-baked king prawns with great tasting cheese and the fish fillet in garlic cream sauce. The highlight of this platter I would say, would be no doubt the fish fillet in garlic cream sauce. With the fresh fish fillet being perfectly seasoned while retaining its natural taste and in a crispy thin batter, it is hard for me to not choose this dish as one of my main highlight of the day. The oven-baked prawns… Let’s just say that the cheese is amazing and it complements very well with the taste of the fresh giant prawns. The cheese does not overwhelm the taste of the prawns as it is mild and not as strong as other cheeses. I have come across many restaurants serving mussels that are too rubbery and have strong ‘fishy’ smell. King Louis actually managed to get rid of this foul stench and make their mussels surprisingly chewy and appetizing to eat, especially with the fresh tomato sauce to complement it!
We also heard about the Banana Bacon Bites ($10.50) which they are known for. Initially, the combination of banana and bacon piqued my curiosity as I never knew that banana and bacon would ever complement each other. But King Louis proved me wrong. The Banana Bacon Bites literally explodes in your mouth upon biting, releasing the sweet juices of the caramelized banana the savoury taste of the bacon after which. A truly wonderful combination I would say.
