Made dinner reservations for two at Alfresco Gusto and I'm reallly pleased to say that it wasn't a disappointing waste of time that you might experience in an overpriced, un-authentic and gimmicky Italian chain restaurant that's so-called traditional. The bistro comes with an alfresco area as well as an indoor seating. We ordered a beef salami pizza, a mushroom risotto, a Glenfidditch 12 on the rocks and a glass of white Santa Carolina.

The beef salami pizza was way better than expected! The crust was thin, and the cheese was still stretchy and hot. The taste was definitely there, and the salami had a nice saltiness to it that made the pizza really worth eating at $22. The best part is the cheese that is so stringy, so warm and delicious! The risotto however, was definitely my pick of the night. It was chock full of mushrooms which I suspected were of different variety, the taste of the mushroom was infused into the risotto. It wasn't too soggy or mushy, and it had the perfect consistency. I'm a huge ran of risotto and this is one of the better ones I've eaten which I felt was not only substantial, but also my money's worth($22). It wasn't overly creamy, and the sundried tomatoes added an amazing touch.

While I'm not a fan of malt, my companion enjoyed the Glenfidditch 12($14). I was perfectly content with my $10 glass of Santa Carolina. It wasn't dry or bitter, it had a pleasant fruitiness that really uplifted the meal. It was slightly sweet, and it had a hint of sweet fruits along with a dash of citrus.

Alfresco Gusto is definitely worth a try! Especially the risotto. The servers were also quite attentive, especially when I called to make the reservation -the person who answered my call was really courteous and pleasant. The ambience is also quite nice for a dinner date with girlfriends, or for a date
