Gooey favorite Smile Jan 09, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles

I have eaten this in the past, but then I started picking it up and then it ended as a favorite whenever lunch hour is around going to the office.

The gooey soup with kway tiao (choosing rice instead of egg noodles as a healthier version and to avoid acne pimples) and the shark fritters which I don't believe (poor sharks but I dont mind if its normal fish) is just as addictive the more you eat it.

It doesn't need to be introduced again, with a bowl of $2.50, the gooey soup gives you the sense of fulfillment in your tummy with a tablespoon++ of black vinegar and chopped spring onions, adding that zing of freshness and eliminating the fishy after taste.

Even the lady now knows me asking "are you studying here" and with the articles pasted all over their board, again, no introduction needed as even Singapore-based mangaka artist (i forgot the name but i've met him for real) drew this famous lor mee as a Singaporean dish must-try!

After visited SITEX at Singapore Expo and gotten what we wanted there, we came by here for a late lunch. Most of the stalls were almost sold out or left with limited choices.

It was raining rather heavily on that day. And, i was craving for a hot bowl of noodle soup pretty badly and glad to come across this stall. This stall seemed to be quite a popular stall in this quiet food centre. After ordering, i waited for about 15 minutes before it was delivered to my table by a nice Auntie. She brought along a bowl of red cut chillies, pepper and sesame oil.

I added a little pepper then some red cut chillies to my bowl of noodle. The soup was pretty good with quite a few pieces of pork lards added to enhance its flavor. You might be thinking the soup might have gotten a little too oily with those pork lards added but it was not so in this instance. The texture of the noodle was rather springy and chewy. I enjoyed it pretty much.

It was a simple bowl of noodle soup with only 2 dumplings and minced meat for $2.50 and if without dumplings, it would be only $2.00.

A pretty cheap and good alternative for such a cold rainy afternoon. Recommended.

Wonderful prata Smile Aug 23, 2011

i can assure this is the best roti prata in singapore. it has fluffy texture, crispy, layered and not too cook! just like eating a pasty at delifrance. The must-try item is not exactly the roti prata itself, but the curry beef that is the side order for the roti canai. The meat is absolutely tender and never over cooked, it tastes sweet and juicy. i also tried the mee goreng which comes with many ingredient and big portion.

During weekends and public holidays this place is crowded , don’t expect to get any quick service if you are a soft spoken person. Finding a parking lot was not easy as there are open space parking near the residential area.

Cosy chilled out place :)  Smile Jul 15, 2011

2am dessert bar is a very nice chill out place, away from all those typical bar and pubs located on the other end of the road. There's no loud music or noisy customers, so its a great place for chit chat.

i always refer to the place as, a fine-dining dessert place, cause all the food there are simply so pretty. The way the presentation was done, it will make me not want to eat it and just stare at it. The chocolate tart, is the best among all that was ordered. The chocolate is not super sweet, and the way it flows out when you dig your spoon in is simply delightful. Not even the lava cake of most shops would be able to do that.

I was impressed with their drinks too. I had the singapore 65, and it is by far one of the nicest cocktails i had. There's taste of peach, and some other tropical fruits, but it does not have the bitter taste of alcohol at all.

A common spot for people to hang out when 'the night is always young'. People are often here for supper but some do come here for lunch and dinner too.

I ordered 2 pieces of plain prata, I'd usually have mine plain, sometimes with egg or onions and cheese but most of the time, I like plain.

I enjoy dipping half the serving in fish curry and the other half in sugar. The prata here is pretty good, it isn't like soaked in oil, not overly crispy, neither is it soggy.

Great!
