It was a few days before chinese new year and i was so happy a lot of places have started serving the yu sheng! And so i gave my colleagues a treat to thank them for the hard work they have put in for the past one year.

I ordered quite a few of the usuals which hardly disappoint such as the claasic xiao long bao, dou miao, xiao cai, fried rice, zha jiang mian + the yu sheng and eight treasure rice.

For this review i must specially mentioned the yu sheng and eight treasure rice!

Yu Sheng - Almost all the yu sheng are very similar but what makes the one at din tai fung stands out is the crispy yam strips on top of it. Add a very interesting twist to it and it's yummy too!

Eight Treasure Rice - All along i always love glutinous rice and this has a variety of beans in it which makes it pretty good. Lovely colours too for the top and it's the perfect way to end a yummy meal with this.

It was Ren Ri the 7th day of the chinese new year so during lunch i decided to lou hei with my colleagues to "celebrate our birthdays"!! By the time i had this yu sheng, it should be my 6th already but i love it enough to have it at any time of the day!

And it's my first time having it at a coffeeshop and i must say it's really not bad for $20.80! The combined overall taste with the ingredients and sauces goes pretty well together. The portion was pretty good too! Definitely will come back again to get the yu sheng if i'm nearby!

Pork Rib Prawn Noodle Soup Smile Feb 10, 2014

I will occasionally get my lunch from this stall but i usually get just prawn noodle ( either dry or soup depending on what i feel like having ). This time i decided to try the pork rib prawn noodles soup. To my delight, it's has a generous servings of pig skin!! I love it and it's great for collegen intake.

For about $4 ( if i rememeber correctly ), it was a pretty good portion. But somehow whenever i had their noodles, i always feel the noodles seems to lack something which i can't quite explain. Otherwise, i quite like the soup and ingredients. But soup can be hotter which i think will be nicer.

I think for this month reviews, i be posting quite a few different yu sheng cause it's chinese new year and i super love yu sheng!! =)

For this one, i got it from Sushi Tei ( slightly over $40 after gst ) as a takeaway for a gathering at my friend's place. This is the basic smallest serving i could get but i must say it's quite a generous portion and 4 of us managed to finish it. I think there was this sweet sauce or oil which had additional packet and we just add in 1.5 packet of it. If not may be a bit too overwhelming for the taste! Salmon was of a decent size too. Overall can't go too wrong with a yu sheng from japanese restaurant.

Kway Chap Smile Feb 09, 2014

My yummy kway chap lunch! I customized according to what i like - fatty meat, pig skin, salted vegetables and big intestines. All these including one bowl of kway is $4.50!

For kway chap, most importantly the various inner organs must be cleaned properly with no weird smell. This stall handled it pretty well and i always have a satisfying meal. Chilli is pretty good too and without fail, i will always take 2 servings of it =)

Seems like they appear on some food program on channel 8 and business has gotten even better!
