It was a few days before chinese new year and i was so happy a lot of places have started serving the yu sheng! And so i gave my colleagues a treat to thank them for the hard work they have put in for the past one year.

I ordered quite a few of the usuals which hardly disappoint such as the claasic xiao long bao, dou miao, xiao cai, fried rice, zha jiang mian + the yu sheng and eight treasure rice.

For this review i must specially mentioned the yu sheng and eight treasure rice!

Yu Sheng - Almost all the yu sheng are very similar but what makes the one at din tai fung stands out is the crispy yam strips on top of it. Add a very interesting twist to it and it's yummy too!

Eight Treasure Rice - All along i always love glutinous rice and this has a variety of beans in it which makes it pretty good. Lovely colours too for the top and it's the perfect way to end a yummy meal with this.

I think for this month reviews, i be posting quite a few different yu sheng cause it's chinese new year and i super love yu sheng!! =)

For this one, i got it from Sushi Tei ( slightly over $40 after gst ) as a takeaway for a gathering at my friend's place. This is the basic smallest serving i could get but i must say it's quite a generous portion and 4 of us managed to finish it. I think there was this sweet sauce or oil which had additional packet and we just add in 1.5 packet of it. If not may be a bit too overwhelming for the taste! Salmon was of a decent size too. Overall can't go too wrong with a yu sheng from japanese restaurant.

Won a $50 voucher and happily plan a dinner with my friend! For a long time, i've been wanting to come to Skyve and was really looking forward to it.

Firstly i love the interior design of the place. The window seat which i was at, the black pattern backdrop thing was really nice and classy. Once my friend arrived, we started off with 1 - 1 Chardonnay for Happy Hour!

For main course, i opt for the popular choice Duck Confit $36 which was really yummy! The accompanying vegetables that's hidden underneath is very good too. This whole dish was very enjoyable. My friend had the cod fish which according to her was good too.

For dessert, we shared the Warm Chocolate Cake $14 : It's pretty good but small serving. Most probably won't order this for next visit as it's not very worth it.

Saw on instagram about this new thai restaurant at Jalan Riang and that really caught my attention. I've only been to Jalan Riang once for italian food and dessert + drinks at Wimbly Lu.

And so together with 3 other friends, we went to try out the food. I think we got a bit too adventurous and over order a bit! Hee! In total we had 6 dishes - Steam Seabass $32 , Tiger Weep (Beef) $24 , Morning Glory $9 , Tom Yum Seafood Soup (Big) $16.50 , Phad Thai (Small) $10 , Butter Garlic Mussel $16.50

Overall the food is good! All of us really enjoyed the dinner, food was fresh and tasty, nice environment and good service! It's only the Tiger Weep which could have been better if the beef was more tender. I'm going to try the pork neck for my next visit which seems highly recommended too!

I was so lucky to win a box of 6 cupcakes from an instagram contest! Thanks to my brother who helped me to collect it. Looks so pretty when i open up the box and i immediately picked up one to try.

I tried the middle one ( should be oreo kind of frosting ). I love the chocolate cupcake! My favorite and personally i find the sweetness just nice and it goes well with the frosting topping! I shared the rest with some friends who came to my place the next day and they liked it too =)

Can consider if you want to try a new place for cupcakes!
