A must-try! Smile Jan 13, 2013

If you’re unsure how many ways an egg can be cooked, Hatched is definitely the right place to go. The branch I went to was in Holland Village and it’s pretty busy down there. Thankfully the place has two floors to accommodate the amount of people. My suggestion is to get a reservation before going, or you’ll end up in an endless list of waiting list.

The place is really cozy, with wood furniture everywhere and romantic lighting. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, so it makes a really good impression. Even though some of our friends were late, they were not rushing us to make an order.

The menu is really gorgeous and cute, as shown in the picture. Written on it was “2012 catalog of eggs”, so I’m unsure whether in 2013 they will have another set of menu or not. If they do, I’ll definitely be ready to try.

My order was Sir Benedict’s, which is one of the signature dishes they have there. Not only did it look good, it tasted awesome. As I cut open my poached egg, I could only watch in awe as liquid golden yolk poured out. The bacon which came along with the dish was exceptionally delectable and crispy as well. Even the mash potato and the purple lettuce at the side were delicious. I almost licked the plate clean at the end of the meal.

My other friends had other dishes, and they were also all praises for the food. I love how they presented their food all so beautifully. Even now as I am typing this review, it makes my salivary glands excited.

The salmon was cooked really nicely as well, not overcooked and soft. The desert dish with the banana was really sweet, but very fragrant. A sweet tooth will definitely love it. Lastly, even the sandwich was great. “The best sandwich I had.” – As quoted from my friend.

All in all, a perfect place for hanging out, or having brunch with a few friends. Excellent food and service. A must try.

The place was situation along a stretch of restaurant, so it might be a little hard to find if you're not paying attention! Seats were placed in an open area, raising you head up and you'll see shoppers shopping at high levels of the mall.

DTF dim sum are always great, so I shall not talk a lot about it. Instead, I'll talk about its noodle dishes. Tried the Jiajiang mian and spicy wantons. Jiajiang mian was average in my opinion, unable to match up with the dim sum. However the spicy wantons were great! If you love to eat hot and spicy food, it is definitely a good dish for you.

Nice place, Nice food Smile Jan 04, 2013

A really nice cozy place! Was really excited to try this place since I've heard and seen numerous reviews about this place. Thankfully, it did not let me down. The lighting was pretty dim, so the picture quality might be a little bad. But the same lighting definitely added a romantic and warm atmosphere to the place!

It was a little confusing to order initially as the menu was not "typical". They named their dishes under different countries and provided a little more details regarding the ingredients used. They also provided an iPad for us to use as a menu, and you can see how the dishes look like before ordering. The staff were pretty helpful as well smile

They also sold beautiful cupcakes, placed strategically by the cashier area, so I supposed it’s to attract diners while they are paying. If that is so, this tactic definitely worked on me. They were priced at about $5 per piece. A little steep for a cupcake and but I decided to try one strawberry one anyway.

..and it was fantastic. It was bigger than the other cupcakes sold outside nowadays (e.g. twelve cupcakes) and it tasted superb! I was totally not expecting that and was convinced that I was just buying the cupcake for its looks. The icing cream was smooth and rich, and the most important part is the cake tasted better than the cream in my opinion. And by the way, I’m a cream/icing/topping maniac so I’m always bias to the top part of a cupcake most of the time. So please do try their cupcakes when visiting!

The dishes were pretty great as well. I’ve tried the Scandinavian breakfast (~$24) which is a salmon dish and the English breakfast which I’ve forgotten the price. The food is on a pricey side, but still worth it.

And did I mention that they draw cute faces on your lattes?

Lava custard bun to die for Smile Dec 31, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Kids-Friendly

I have been to several dim sum restaurants, and Yummy Chopsticks probably has the best lava custard buns tongue

They are slighter bigger than normal custard buns I had tasted and their fillings are pouring out like liquid gold.
A definite must try!

They serve a variety of other dim sum too, but they were quite average.

One point to note, although it is stated that it operates from 11am onwards, don't bother going 11am on the dot. I'd made an reservation at 11am but when I reached, they were still preparing and not ready for customers ): We only got served at around 11.30-11.45am.

Good place, slightly expensive Smile Dec 31, 2012

It was my first time to the SAFRA outlet and it's awfully quiet. It's quite a big and cozy place, but only a few customers. Good place to have meetings if you're looking for somewhere quiet.

Food was great and service was excellent.

The staff were friendly and camera personally to add cream and bacon bits for our baked potatoes.

Just a downside is that there were some flies flying around. Other than that, great.
