Cafe 2000 is located at the far end of the lobby. Aside it's claim for being a treasure trove of Asian and Western cuisine, the main focus should still fall on it's Seafood and Barbecue buffet which is only available during the weekends.

They have sushi, sashimi, and soba in one corner for the Japanese cuisine, roasted beef and lamb, as well as sausages which are all re-grilled in seconds for hot serving. Besides these, Café 2000 do have as well, Chinese "siew mai", "char siew" bao, curry fish, salads, deep fried buns, steamed vegetables, and cheese pizza, etc. I do love Nonya kuehs, and when I saw this tray of kuehs, I can hardly resist not trying it out. As mini as they seems, but these are enough to satisfy my craving for it towards the end of my meal.

I headed straight for the Sushi but realised it was not quite a good start. Vinegar-ed rice is on the hard side, and ingredients does not seem fresh either. Perhaps for non-fussy eaters, it might be a passing grade. Café 2000 also has Soba, and I had a serving for myself. Same as the Sushi, it's just a mere ok.

Chilli Crab is indeed fresh and meaty. Usually for seafood buffet, I wouldn't expect such kind of food standard. But Café 2000 has convinced me otherwise.

This plate consists of Smoked Salmon, Minced Beef, Potato Salad, Quail Egg, Thai Squid, and perhaps Tuna. Thai Squid is chewy, but I would rather give more compliments to the Smoked Salmon, which has also won the heart of my companion.

A bit of each again, and generally it was good. The Deep Fried Bun can complement the Curry Fish, and the Salted Chicken although not tender, it still not considered on the tough range. The addition of Braised Pork is not exactly the appropriate combination, but it doesn't really matter to me.

For the Sausage and Roasted Beef, the chef will grilled it before scooping it onto your plate. Sauces are available too to go with your meat. The beef is not exactly how I wanted, and I doubt I can request for rare or even medium-rare for it. It tasted more like well-done though.

On the other hand, Roasted Lamb is much more tastier than the Roasted Beef. At the very least, it goes a lot more easier on the chewing part.

Here my favourite Kueh and I took one of each. Other than the Red Bean Pancake which is too dry and barely swallowable, the Kueh(s) are nicely done and springy too.

Café 2000 has cakes, ice creams and even self-made Ice Kacang to mark the end of the buffet meal. I didn't have the ice cream or ice kacang as I am extremely full, but still managed to stuff a few of the cakes as dessert.

Although I don't remember the desserts I took, the Honeydew Pudding is the only one still etched in my mind, because of its unique pudding flavour yet one that I will not want to try again. The taste does not match up to my liking.

Hooked on Curry Fish Heads Smile May 24, 2015

Hooked on Heads. The easiest way to get there from Upper Thomson Road is to enter from Jalan Todak and followed by a U-shaped turn to get to Sin Ming Road.

Stir-fried Garlic Kang Kong ($8.00), which is supposed to be sambal kang kong. We requested for the stir-fried and here comes the crunchy vegetable with a tint of garlic taste.

Mixed Assorted Vegetables ($8.00) is another "green" dish to make our meal seems as though healthier. What I like about both their vegetable dish is that Hooked on Heads do not tend to overcook.

Seafood Tofu ($10.00). I love tofu dishes that are stewed and have those super thick gravy that can also goes along very well with the rice! Hooked on Heads did not disappoint me, and quite like the feel of the soft tofu rumbling in my mouth before slipping down my throat.

Prawn Paste Chicken ($10.00). The savory taste of the juicy chicken and crunching sounds of the fried skin is too hard to resist. This plate of nicely fried wings is a must-order item when in Hooked on Heads.

Curry Fish Head ($42.00 for whole head). If you are dining in Hooked on Heads, their fish head is present on most tables, and the smell of it is circulating around the restaurant.

Having a little mouth-itch, I separately ordered the Banana Fritters Special ($7.00). To be honest, it wasn't quite what I expected, and I seriously prefer the usual deep-fried banana as a whole. But having tagged the word "special", it has to be unique in a way? Dough is not fried to crisp, but the adding of icing sugar and dipped with mayonnaise and maple syrup gives it a different taste, and I felt as though I was munching on the McDonald's pancakes! Banana inside is not totally fried, and it does seems to be a wonderful snack or dessert for kids.

Hooked on Heads seems like a usual tze char stall, but the food variety is quite an exclusive to them as we don't see such amount of delicacies sold in other restaurants. Definitely a return trip for me again, to try on their other food which I believe I will have no doubt on the same standard when served to my table. For a moment, I thought I went into a Peranakan tze char stall, and at a time, I thought I was in a Thai cuisine restaurant too! It is like a mixture of some and being blended into a place for diners to enjoy delicacies from different cultures, and it was indeed an enjoyable meal.

Opened for a couple of months already, Whisk & Paddle is a cafe that is situated alongside the Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk. Instead of the air-conditioned cafe that most would prefer to have, Whisk & Paddle would rather diners to have a taste of their food as well as a sniff of the nature.
Whisk & Paddle's menu is more of an American-style type of food, ranging from brunches to pastas and to pizzas. If you are looking for Nasi Lemak or Economical Bee Hoon, you might want to consider trying the coffee house opposite the LRT track.
Homemade Iced Tea - Passionfruit Lime Lychee ($6.90), and Mango Peach Smoothie ($7.90). If I were to make the choice again between these two, I would choose the former as it is sweeter than the Mango Peach Smoothie. The latter taste quite bland, although the light mango taste managed to linger in my mouth for a few seconds.
Wedges with Cheese Dip ($8.80). Had this ordered to satisfy my craving for thick and creamy cheese. I didn't had any expectations when it came, but "ta-dah~", I happily cleaned up the every wedges available and coated it well with the cheese! Wedges seems to be home-sliced, and every wedges comes full of potato fillings in it. Kids are sure to love this!
Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon ($13.00). Something out of the norm, Whisk & Paddle replaced the usual English Muffins with waffles and it is still as yummy, except that it comes along with the sweet waffle taste. Poached eggs are prepared well, and we are very satisfied with the oozing egg yolk flowing on to the waffles. Eggy-waffles anyone? You also have the option to opt for either honey baked ham or sautéed mushrooms if you want something more than just smoked salmon.
Ham & Pineapple Pizza ($16.80). For the price, the pizza is sliced into 9 unequal pieces, and the entire pizza is probably meant for sharing among 2 pax. IT consists of honey baked ham, bacon, pineapple, bell pepper, sunny side up and bbq sauce. Oh wait... sunny side up on a pizza?

Jamie's Italian, the only outlet based in Singapore, which also has been crazily raved about in the UK.

Had wanted to try their breakfast menu which was launched recently, but the earliest time I could make it was past 2pm. Therefore, we still went ahead with their lunch menu.

Jamie's Italian has both indoor and outdoor seating, but for a weather like Singapore, an indoor seating is always a preferred choice among majority of the diners. I has a narrow walkway from the entrance to the seating area, but pretty bright during the day which light streaming in from the glass windows, and overlooking to sea to the Universal Studios Singapore can be quite relaxing.

Ordered a snack to chew on as we haven't eaten anything since morning, but it was not disappointing at all. Crispy Squid ($11.50), with garlicky mayo and lemon. Love the fried-crisp skin and chewy squid. Sufficient enough to be shared among 2 pax, but the tendency to ask for second helping is high.

Prawn Linguine ($17.00), with fried garlicky prawns, shaved fennel, tomatoes, chilli & rocket. Portion is considered small, but every mouth of it will just tempt you to just carry on eating. I ordered the normal serving, where a larger serving cost $25.00. Perhaps I should have went for the larger serving, but as a first timer to Jamie's Italian, I do know now that food here is pretty promising.

Baked Salmon ($23.50) is not in the menu, but recommended by crew as it is the "fish of the day" type.

Jamie's Italian does serve promising and delicious food to diners, although the price is on the pricey side and with a smaller portion, which we assume and indeed, find it not enough to fill up our empty stomach. An ice-cream dessert at some of the other cafes/restaurants (which are almost everywhere in VivoCity) will probably just fill up your stomach to the brim.

Concetto comprise of 2 levels, but for the selfie-takers, the upper level provides more light to the interior, giving you a fairer picture. With such a generous shop space, even if there's a queue ahead, turnover time should be fast. If you are one of those whom rather spend time more meaningfully than waiting in a queue, Concetto gives you the privilege to make reservations!
I went for the 3-Course Lunch ($20.90) which surprisingly is not just affordable but good-to-taste! Concetto Pasta ($6.90 ala-carte) is made of chilled capellini tossed in lobster oil and seaweed, served with crab and shrimp tartare, and finished with lobster foam and ikura. While it is just an entree dish, it does open my appetite and awaits for more the main dish to come!
Had wanted the Beef Oyster Blade as my main, but was told that it has removed from the set lunch. Not sure why, but I had the Kurobuta Pork Cheek ($15.90 ala-carte), substitute for Beef Oyster Blade.
With the 3-4 pieces of pork cheek, I love every singly bit of it. Soft and sauce absorbing meat makes me kept on chewing non-stop on it, but at the same time the amount of disappointment falls greater on me as it get lesser and lesser on my plate. Served with homemade potato gnocchi and anchovy squid ink puree.
Ordered another main from the ala-carte, Red Snapper ($13.90). Red snapper fillet served with pan-roasted cherry tomatoes, mashed cod and lemon-infused paprika jus. Snapper meat is flak-ky and tender, but I find this dish a little sour, perhaps due to the cherry tomatoes. Not to my liking, but I still prefer my Kurobuta Pork Cheek!
The 3rd course, Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90 ala-carte), which is also the dessert. Pistachio-flavored cream served with pistachio crumble and salted pistachio. Texture is like the soya beancurd, the popular brand that we all know of, and pretty enjoyable. A nice dessert to end the course!
Definitely worth the money, but serving time is a little slow although we don't see the crowd. I believe Concetto will continue to attract masses of young people, in addition to its location where it’s surrounded by malls and academics. If you are in town, and looking for an affordable westernized food, Concetto can be one of your choice!
