Xin Wang Cafe Smile Mar 23, 2011

Located at a corner, not a very prominent place. I love Xin Wang for their food at a reasonable price. The prawn dumplings contain a big whole prawn, and it can be a mouthful for me. The salted fish fried rice is a must try for those who love salted fish. They are generous with the eggs and salted fish that you almost can eat it in every bite. The fried wantons were crispy and it comes with mayo sauce. I especially love the egg with luncheon meat mee soup. The chef was thoughtful enough to place the luncheon meat on a separate plate instead of soaking it into the soup. The hot honey lemon tea is soothing for the throat and it is neither too sweet nor sour, tasted just nice! Overall, simple food with reasonable price! (:

Warehouse Bistro Smile Mar 23, 2011

My friends and i took some time to locate this bistro as there were just too many restaurants in clarke quay. I love the ambience and the settings. The place also offer alfresco dining which has very nice settings too! There were more people sitting outside than inside. So we opted to sit inside. There was this wide range of wine displayed out in a wine cellar. As this is a french cuisine, there were some words on the menu that we didn't understand. So we check it out with the waiter and he too was nice and patience in explaining. We ordered a platter which consist of beef, pork, cheese with very juicy tomatoes, and a tuna salad. The beef tasted a bit salty but i really loves the tomatoes! This dish was something new to us but still acceptable. The Spagetti with lobster bisque topped with prawns is a MUST TRY!! It was so flavourful!! The grilled chicken leg with mushroom sauce was a disappointment though. The meat was not tender enough and we had a hard time chewing it. The grilled fish with risotto was nice too and i especially love the risotto! The bistro offered christmas set lunch and dinner on christmas eve and on christmas day itself, but too bad we missed it. Overall, i think this place is worth a try with the nice ambience and french cuisine.

TCC Smile Mar 23, 2011

We walk around many places, finding a place we can settle down for dinner. But there were people in every restaurant, queueing up for a table on a christmas eve. We didnt felt like joining the long stretch of queue. So we decided to continue walking until we saw TCC and there was no one in it! It looked almost like it was not open for business and it was 9pm! We confirmed with the friendly waitress to see if it was open and got a table for two. The red sofa seats really brighten up the entire place. As there were no other customers other than us, the waitress focus all her attention towards us. She was attentive in explaining the menu and we waited for some time before our food were served. The cheesy mozzarella stick came in bite size and it was really nice! But be careful not to burn your tongue as the cheese is hot. It came with a sauce, tasted like salsa and together, it was perfect! The chicken baked rice was nice too, with fresh leafy vegetables as the ganish. My friend had a spagetti with fried fish. Though it looks simple, but the spagetti were flavourful and chewy. The fried fish was cooked till golden brown too and it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Although the food were nice, the prices were steep which i think with the amount spent, you could have gone to a better place with better ambience.

Weekend Brunch at Infusion Smile Mar 23, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western Variety

It is easy to find a parking lot on a weekend afternoon at dempsey. You will need to walk a few steps down to locate the restaurant. The waiter was quick to show us to our table as reservation was made. Infusion offers alfresco dining too for those who loves the sun. For just $20 (rounding up), you can eat from those offered under ala-carte and self-service buffet. Top up $5 (rounding up) to get free flow of juices, coffee or tea, or $25 (rounding up) to get free flow of wine. Juices include apple, orange, and cranberry. However, the waiter told me that they don't have cranberry juice when i ask for it. A bit disappointed with it. Also, when i ordered a ham & egg benedict from the ala-carte menu, i ended up with disappointment again when the waiter told me that they run out of stock for it. sad There wasn't really a lot of people there. So i figured they didn't run out of stock for it. They just didnt offer it on that day. Also, the menu shows that either laksa or mee siam will be offered. But there was none at the buffet table. However, i think the peaceful environment and the food make up for the negative part. I love the nonya kueh and the egg with cheese and mushroom omelette. They also offered different ways on how you would like your egg to be cook; overeasy, scrambled, sunny side-up. We ate so many eggs that we developed an egg phobia after the brunch. Haha! But i would say it is worth a try since it is cheap; $20 nett. Do note that Weekend brunch is from 11am-2pm. smile

Love their meatballs spaghetti. There is a variety of pasta to choose from depending on individual preference. Their nachos are good too, especially the cheese. U can order that while waiting for your food. Their pizza was good too! But i don't really like the environment, with students talking and laughing loudly. Service was prompt too. A budget friendly place to dine.
