Quite pleasantly surprise this place is in openrice as it is not exactly a dining place. They sell all kinds of taiwanese snacks here : plums, ginger, cuttlefish etc. In spite of the Japanese name, the snacks are flown from Taiwan to Singapore. Among the plum range, there is a dizzy huge selection to choose from : liquorice plums, milky plums, dried plums, red plums, mulberry, cranberry, wu mei, etc. They were affordable, and no refrigeration needed.

The grilled chicken burger is excellent, tender and juicy, not oily as it is grilled, not fried. In fact, it is healthy as in the grilling process, the fats actually melted and rolled off the chicken, leaving the lean portion for the burger. Price wise, would be more worth it while if we buy it as part of a set meal with the drink.

For drinks, they have a home made brew called "plum drink" which is good when served cold, but hot version is available too. We ordered their banana-leaf wrapped otah. It is a big flat rectangular shaped otah (width is like 10cm), different from the stick kind of otah we usually get from outside. Abit oily, but tender, mildly hot and no fishy smell. The next dish is the tou fu (those silky types, chopped into cubes) cooked in hot spicy sichuan sauce which is very thick. The porridge is teochew style, ie those that is cooked for a whole day till it achieve its soft consistency.

Although it has the same name as Jaan at Equinox, the food are of different types/cultures. I ordered the mee goreng and the mutton soup. The mutton soup was luckily not too spicy, so I was able to enjoy it alot, in spite of the very light layer of oil on top of it. The mee was just normal, not too special, but nice to eat with the soup.

When I was there at 8 plus in morning before work, I was already behind in the queue of office workers. Seems like everyone wanted a cup of soya milk and some snacks for breakfast. It was wonderful to be greeted by the fragrance of newly made soya milk in the morning rush hour. Thick and fresh soya milk which I usually ordered in warm than as a cold drink.
