Great lunch Smile Jan 30, 2013

This is not my first time here, nor will it be my last. I usually order their kimchi hot pot, which is really superb and I absolutely love it. However, my throat wasn't feeling very well this time round so I ordered their chicken bibimbap instead. At $6.90++ for a student meal, it also comes with a canned soft drink of your choice, which is a really good deal.

The sauce that came with the bibimbap was more sweet than spicy in my opinion, but I think it goes well with the bibimbap.
Had a great experience!

Carrot Cake Smile Jan 30, 2013

I have been frequenting this stall since I was a little kid, which adds up to about a decade at least. I have always ordered their carrot cake without eggs (I know it's weird), chilli and lots of 菜脯 (preserved turnips?). The stall has always had a long queue, back when it was upstairs where the wet market is now, and up till now.

The stall owners are always really friendly and always ask after their regulars. They always have a smile for everyone.

Swensen's Promotion Smile Jan 20, 2013

We went down around lunchtime and the place was surprisingly empty. I ordered a chicken baked rice and as usual, I couldn't finish it owing to the large portion served. Loved the generous amount of cheese.

To be honest, I have to say that the main courses at Swensen's are just average. I actually prefer the ice-creams over the main courses and they are the main attractions.

Swensen's was having a promotion whereby every main course ordered comes with a free dessert of your choice from 2 sections so I picked a banana split. Wanted coit tower at first but it was not included sad

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Lunch)

Sushi Tei! Smile Jan 18, 2013

Had lunch here on a Saturday so the queue outside was quite long. However, we didn't wait very long as the line moved quickly. We ended up at the sushi bar because we were really hungry and just wanted to eat.

We ended up ordering different kinds of food and just sharing. I recommend coming with more people because we actually wanted to order a lot more food but there were only 2 of us so it's kind of impossible to finish. The food was really fresh and delicious. Service was good; the servers were attentive and responded quickly. The environment is cosy and even though it was very crowded, it was not filled with chatter and didn't feel overwhelming, which is definitely a huge plus.

Satay Bee Hoon Smile Jan 18, 2013

As seen from the photo, the amount of gravy they give is a lot. There is a lot of peanuts in the gravy, which I love. The sauce is also quite thick, unlike the diluted ones some stalls serve. A pity the amount of bee hoon served is not proportional to the sauce. After finishing the bee hoon, I still had quite a lot of the sauce left... For this sauce, there is no hint of spiciness to it at all so some might prefer to add chilli to it.

The dish came with kang kong, prawn, cockles and pig liver.

Even though the dish may not be one of the best, it is still better than average.
