Crispy Curry Puff  OK Dec 30, 2011
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

My colleague bought a box of this 1A Crispy Curry Puff to the office. From the experience of eating curry puffs, we guessed that the one with red dot should be the Sardine one and we were right. So I had the Sardine one. The curry puff is really crispy. As I was eating, I need to put a waste paper basket below so that all the crisp can fall into the basket. The fillings were generous but the sardine was a bit too dry, salty and spicy.

I'm not a very big fan of deep, fried snacks but since this is my mum's favourite, I thought I might as well just try one to see why she liked it so much. After trying one piece, I felt that the taste is quite similar to normal french fries but this is fried using sweet potato. After deep frying the sliced sweet potato. Some plum powder were added to enhance the flavour. The auntie at the stall was nice enough to ask whether we wanted to add the powder or not.

Salmon and Teriyaki Chicken Bento OK Dec 26, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Food Court

A more cost effective alternative to eating Japanese food at restaurant would be at the food court. It's easier to find a seat too during peak period. I ordered their Salmon and Teriyako Chicken Bento. The food court even have a reward system that allows iPhone user to collect chops. Every 10 chops collected can be exchanged for a $2 voucher. Cool. The bento set have what the usual bento set have. The sour vegetables, meat, rice and soup. Only item that was missed out was fruits. Their teriyaki chicken and salmon meat are tender to the bite and loved the sauce. The teriyaki sauce was also poured onto the salmon. However, the rice is a bit hard.

Average Nasi Lemak OK Sep 26, 2011
Categories : Café | Halal

I made a mistake to order nasi lemak from Ananas Cafe. Should have order my usual bee hoon goreng or fried bee hoon. Firstly the rice does not have the nice fragrance of the usual nasi lemak. Secondly, the rice is too dry and hard. It's like eating overnight rice. The chicken wing is crispy on the outside but must be careful eating it or the crispy flakes on the skin can easily cut the inside of one's mouth. The stall assistant also choose to serve me one egg that looks so awful. The fish cake and chili is nice. Another point noted is they don't give cucumber to add on with the chili. Makes my meal seems quite unhealthy without even the slightest bit of vegetable.

Great place for dessert OK Sep 18, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant | Brunch

Ruyi, derived from the Chinese phrase ‘as one’s wishes’ is Singapore's first fast-food Chinese restaurant under the Tung Lok Group. Its two main outlet at Resort World Sentosa and Changi Airport both attracts lots of diners and is often very crowded. As I have the coupons for the Heeren's branch, decided to try it out for the first time. The Heeren's branch was known as Ruyi Sweetheart and it's an outdoor concept. Opened 24 hours, we sat outside under their big, yellow umbrella overlooking the long queue at H&M as it's their opening day today too. It does get quite humid as there's no air-con.

My friends and I ordered Ruyi Fried Noodle, Stewed Minced Pork Noodle and Ruyi Fried Rice. Their fried rice is especially cooked in olive oil from Italy and top with their special sauce. Every grain of their rice is yellow in colour as they have been coated with egg. Top with carrot, spring onion, prawns and diced bbq pork, it's really a flavourful dish. Their Ruyi Fried Noodle is very tasty too but it's too dry and hard to chew.

Mango Pudding is refreshingly fresh and yummy. The price after using the coupon is more reasonable and worthy of the food.
